Re: [Finale] Merging percussion staves
You can paste only one layer if Show Active Layer is selected. This should really be called Show and Edit Active Layer Only. But I don't think this will solve your problem. There is still the percussion map to worry about. I used to know all this stuff, until they changed it two versions in a row, then I lost track. For this reason, it is super important to know which version of Finale you are working with. What I think your best bet is, is to make the most complicated staff with a percussion map the main staff, and copy the LESS complicated part into it, that is to say, the part that isn't dependent on a percussion map. I have done this with timpani, glock and drum kit. In the drum staff, Change Instrument to glock for only the measures needed, then copy the glock part into that passage. If you have two staves that BOTH use different percussion maps, then you have a bit of work ahead of you. Even when I convert that stave to a percussion stave and set all the same attributes in the score manager, the bass drum is still “out of range”. Probably what I really want to do is put line two into a separate layer, and then paste that over the first layer in the first stave. I have tried to do that but the pasted layer 2 overwrites layer 1. That’s probably not a clear explanation for many people. Any ideas? Re: [Finale] auto-save working but can't find file
it seems creating a new folder/location for the auto-save and rebooting has solved the problem. perhaps i burned one of finale's braincells when i moved the file out of the original folder. shouldn't happen like that though, but this past week has been an effen series of that shouldn't have happened chuck and jim, i would suggest trying this, the file is there even after auto-save has completed. - in finder, create a new backups folder (name it however you want) - save and close all finale docs - open finale prefs and set the destination folder for auto-save to your new folder - click apply just for fun, although this shouldn't be necessary - close and reboot finale, open a doc that has been saved (i.e. not a new default file) - open a finder window with your new folder and wait for the asv to appear - rejoice and have a drink on me If you open a window to the autosave folder, you can see it get created after the prescribed amount of time. It possible the Finale deletes it on normal exit and/or when you save after a crash (using the the autosaved version). ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu https://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale To unsubscribe from finale send a message to: finale-unsubscr...@shsu.edu

Your impression is partially correct. However, the autosave copy (I believe) is in fact still visible. However, when you installed Fin14 it probably changed the location of the autosave files to a location you aren't expecting. At least that's what happened with me. Re: [Finale] auto-save working but can't find file
i have checked and reset the location several times. i also just reindexed my disk and did a search with spotlight, only the file i placed in the right folder showed up and it was last modified 2 days ago. it could be that the file that reopens after a crash is the last save (as chuck suggested), but last time it crashed was in fact during the auto-save function, so i couldn't tell. in any case, the file has to be somewhere, maybe hidden and spotlight cant find it or something. weird.
