Finale speedy note entry really relies on having a numeric keypad, but
many laptop computers don't have one. If you've got an iPhone or iPod
touch, this free app can help:

http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=310129994;

I haven't tried it yet myself, but apparently it works in both Windows
and the Mac OS.

[Finale] EWQL Symphonic Orchestra Silver Edition

2009-06-21 Thread Jim Hale
Version: Finale 2009

I'm looking to buy this from a buddy of mine and installed it. Went into the
VST setup and when I go to view the Silver Edition, All I get is a very tiny
title bar and no way to edit the instrument. The Silver Edition XP shows
fine. I checked in Sonar and both show up nice and editable. Is there a
setting in Finale I need to check so as to be able to edit the VST?

Thanks!

Subject: [Finale] sound card for finale 2010

I've been using finale 2005, and now I want to install Finale 2010 and start
using the Garritan instruments/sounds. My computer is a Dell Insp. 518,
Intel core2quad processor with 4 GB of RAM. The sound and graphics are
integrated (i.e., there's no PCI sound card or graphics card).

What do I need to add in order to use the Garritan instruments? A
SoundBlaster card? Do PCI Card audio interfaces (e.g., M-Audio Audiophile
2496) cover the same ground? According to a booklet that came with my
computer, it (the computer) has a PCI 2.3 slot, a PCI Express x1 slot and a
PCI Express x16 slot, whatever that means.

The Finale website says:
A soundcard (including a DirectSound AS20 recommended driver) is required
for playing the Garritan sounds in Windows.

I've done a couple of projects (Symphonic Band) where I used GPO and VDL 2.5.1

Hello all,

I've been happily inputting music forever with Speedy + computer
keyboard, but am now looking into piano-keyboard input.
My first question has to do with hardware: How do I connect?
The back of my (piano)keyboard has a midi output, which seems to want
a round plug with 5 pins across the top and a spacer at bottom.
Presumably at the other end I need USB to hook into computer.

Is such a midi-to-USB cable a standard item (Radio Shack for expl?)
If not, where do I find?
or do I praps need something else, like a magic black box of some kind
between kbd and compr?

Thanks, Ch.S.
