Dell Latitude D830, Win 7-64, Finale 2012c Under Program Options/Edit, I check “Automatic Update Layout,” followed by Apply/OK. I then make sure that both Save/Load window states when editing/opening file are checked. However:
Problem 1: The Program Options checkmark disappears erratically—ALWAYS when I re-open a saved document, and repeatedly WHILE I’m working on a document. At regular, short intervals I go to Program Options/Edit, & generally find it unchecked again—for no observable reason. Problem 2: According to the Help manual, “Checking this option also checks Automatic Update Layout under the Edit menu.” Automatic Update Layout is under my Utilities menu, not the Edit menu, and there is no option to put a check there. I can click on it all day, and no check mark appears. The really annoying thing is that if Automatic Update Layout is unchecked under Program Options, my Finale crashes nearly every time I try to Insert measures. To protect my data, I finally set Autosave for every 5 minutes. I researched this Insert problem and found the following: There are certain instances where Finale can crash if "Automatic Update Layout" is turned off. To correct this: 1. Go to the Finale menu and choose Preferences > Program Options. 2. Click on the edit tab 3. Check the box marked "Automatic Update Layout". 4. Click Apply and OK to return to the score. But, of course, my “Automatic Updated Layout” won’t stay selected. What am I missing here? Everything else seems to work fine. Another question: Specifically where are “Preferences” in Windows? Or, are Preferences named something else in Windows? Sincerely (but exasperated), Patricia Spedden _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu https://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale To unsubscribe from finale send a message to: finale-unsubscr...@shsu.edu
