Hello, I thought I should share a solution to my metatool problem that began a few months ago, since others have helped me so often.
I could program metatools, and they would work in that file on another computer, but not on my Dell Latitude D830 XP3. I tried everything--freeing up memory, updating drivers, etc.--even enlisting the help of Finale technicians at MakeMusic, and was so frustrated that I was ready to buy a new computer and start over with Sibelius. In doing a clean re-install of Finale 2012, I noticed a 3rd party TouchFreeze program in my Task Manager Processes. I disabled it, and metatools have functioned perfectly since then. Apparently some third party programs do conflict with Finale for Windows. Hopefully, this info might save someone else a lot of time and frustration. Also, I found out from MakeMusic that Windows does have something akin to the Mac preferences file that can be trashed/reset and sometimes solve problems (although it didn't solve my metatool problem). They are hidden files and if anyone is interested, I would be glad to share the instructions.
