[Finale] Omit letter J

2012-10-11 Thread Robert Patterson
I am working on parts for a 19th cent. piece whose parts have to match the
rehearsal letters in a printed edition of the score. Thus, I need to omit
the letter J. Is this possible with auto rehearsal numbers? I know I could
enter a fake J and hide it, but that would cause multimeas rests to break,
right?

Also, is there any way to reset the sequence for a new movement? Or should
I just create a new rehearsal mark expression?

Just enter the auto-rehearsal [J] and hide it, then enter another rehearsal
letter in the same measure ([K]) and don't hide it.

For new movements, just duplicate the auto-rehearsal expression and use the
second copy.

as far as i know, you would need a new expression. or assign J and
hide in the SC (will hidden in PTs as well) or/and give it a vertical
offset of 32,767 EVPU.

Actually, after RTFM (or maybe RTFWP or STFG [Searching the Fine
Google]), I discovered it is possible to change any auto-rehearsal
assignment to restart on any value, so no workaround is necessary. Just
right-clicky the expression and change it.

Put in the marks until you get to the letter J. Control-click on the handle of
this expression to make the context menu appear and choose Edit Rehearsal Mark
Sequence. You can now restart the sequence at K.

The same technique can be used to reset the sequence for a new movement.

krapp, i should have actually had a look at it before spouting off :-)

i'm so used to finding unintelligent design in finale features that i
thought...

Never mind. In searching for one I found the answer to both.
