In earlier versions I believe there was a similar choice but it was not obvious where to change the setting. -- David H. If I remember correctly, it will only save as MP3 if you are using midi, it won't save MP3 if you using Garritan. (I would love to be proved wrong on this one!) Cheers, Lawrence -- Lawrenceyates.co.uk ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

The only practical way to produce an mp3, especially with an added vocal track, is to save as midi, and import into a DAW like Logic or Cubase. Finale is not a one stop shop for anything other than notation. ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

It is completely practical to export audio from Finale. It is also completely practical to add a single audio track (such as a vocal track) to Finale, provided the tempos match exactly. [Finale] Recording the singing of lyrics on the Finale Audio Tract as the score is playing
I have Audacity and know how to convert from wav to mp3. However, I don't know how to use Finale and Audacity together. Could you explain how you record in real time to Audacity. Also, is it possible to sing and record an audio tract within Finale as the score is being played? Or does the audio tract have to be made in another program and then be imported? Finale 2010 does save as MP3 (though apparently not when the score contains an audio tract). (Choose Export to audio file, then in the lower left corner you can choose between Standard Audio File and Compressed MP3 File.) [Finale] Recording the singing of lyrics on the Finale Audio Tract as the score is playing
I have a score in Finale that I can play through Finale the way I want it played. Now I would like a singer to sing the lyrics along with the Finale score playing, and have the singing recorded onto the audio track (above the score). This seems like it would be a common activity, but I cannot find directions that describe precisely how this would be done. I don't want the singing of the lyrics to be transcribed into notes. Can someone give me directions or tell me where I can find directions? Also, after I have the lyrics sung and recorded on the Finale audio tract, I want to export the finished song as a mp3 file. However, when I have an audio tract with a score and want to save an audio file, I am only given the option of making a wav file. I can use another program *(Audacity*) to convert a wav file to a mp3 file, but would prefer that Finale make the mp3 audio file. What is the problem? I have Finale 2010 and Windows 7. Finale does not save as MP3. No program does everything. Use Audacity, from Source Forge, which is a great free program, to convert your wav into an MP3. This, at the same time gives you a very good opportunity to tweak your file a bit - trim the ends, bump up the volume (Finale wav files are pretty soft, in my experience.) Also, and I've been meaning to post here for suggestions - Finale, for me (WinFin 2011r3) does not always save to audio correctly, when using GPO sounds. I often have to record in real time to Audacity. Adacity takes an extra moment to set it up because you have to DL another small file to go with it, but all the instructions are on the Audacity page: *audacity*.source*forge*.net/ Raymond Horton Bass Trombonist, Louisville Orchestra Minister of Music, Edwardsville (IN) UMC Composer, Arranger VISIT US AT rayhortonmusic.com On Sun, Feb 5, 2012 at 10:46 PM, Madelon Mottet madelon.mot...@gmail.comwrote: I have a score in Finale that I can play through Finale the way I want it played.
