Re: [Finale] Vertical Collision Remover plug-in
Noel, two questions: 1: What were the exact settings in the Vertical Collision Remover plug-in? 2: Are you on Windows or Mac? [Finale] Vertical Collision Remover plug-in
Can someone explain how this plug-in works? It doesn't seem to do anything over here. Thanks, Barbara ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
Re: [Finale] Vertical Collision Remover plug-in
The vertical collision remover is a mess. I was very excited about it when it was announced in the beta testing round for 2007 and spent a lot of time testing it and figuring out how the options are meant to work. It was soon clear that even the people at MakeMusic weren't clear about how all the options should interact. Not only are the options unnecessarily complicated, there are combinations of options that produce the opposite effect to what is intended. At the time I went into this in great detail: I can't remember all of it now, but the plug-in is so full of mistakes that it is essentially useless. Don't waste time with this plug-in: do your vertical spacing by hand. Michael On 18 Jan 2009, at 17:10, Barbara Touburg wrote: Can someone explain how this plug-in works? RE: [Finale] Vertical Collision Remover plug-in
When using the default settings, I find it to be excellent for adjusting the spacing of the staves relative to the lyrics in single page hymns (similar to a grand staff). But, it does has it shortcomings in more typical music, like multiple page piano or vocal/piano pieces. Unless you happen to be lucky and find a specific situation (like hymns) that it works well on, I also recommend doing things manually. Re: [Finale] Vertical Collision Remover plug-in
Actually, I don't have a clue. This is such a powerful, yet frustrating program. I just noticed that in my situation removing Optimization seemed to help. Does anyone have a flow chart that shows how this all works? noel On Jan 18, 2009, at 5:16 PM, Barbara Touburg wrote: noel jones wrote: I have, since it was introduced to me by this list, had really good luck using this plugin...
