Rather than extract the parts, you could add new hidden staves to the score and copy/explode the instruments to separate staves — plugins make this easier. That way you can at least keep all of the parts in the same file, which makes updating and printing them much, much easier. The only solution I know of is to extract the part. You can make it more painless by doing ALL the formatting you can (except grace note spacing) while it is a linked part, then extract and respace just before you print. That way, if there are edits later, you don’t have to reformat EVERYTHING, just make the edit and extract and respace again. Also, log a complaint with tech support. This is an unconscionable bug. What's the solution to spacing grace notes in a linked part that has voicing defined for 2 instruments? Is there a solution? Would prefer not to extract the part, but I will if necessary. Finale 2012c.
