Well, it makes it like WinXP if you run WinXP using an administrative logon. My clients don't do that -- their machines all have at least two accounts, their administrator account (which they use only for administrative tasks) and their regular account that they use for their daily work (which is either user-level or power user account). In Vista, there is very little point in running as an administrator since even an administrator will run by default with user-level permissions, and you'll be prompted any time there's a request for an elevation of privileges. -- David W. RE: [Finale] Reregistering
In Vista, you need to run as Administrator to get registration to work. Right click and choose "Run as Adminstrator" from the context menu. That should solve the problem. You could also turn off user account control (UAC). However, that defeats part of Vista's security and puts it back like WinXP where the default that everybody and everything runs with full privileges. Several folks including David Fenton have pointed out that is a very unsecure way to set up your system. Vista's UAC is easier than having to log in to a separate administrator account to install and register. So far, so good for me. Every time I load up the program, I'm warned that I'd better register, or in 30 days I won't be able to use it. So I obediently register every time I load the program. Any suggestions?
