Re: [Finale] download 2007a

2006-12-21 Thread Stephen Ellis
Took me about 10 minutes on my G5. I think it said when I started it
would take about 2 hours, but as soon as I started downloading, the
time remaining estimates dropped rapidly. I have found this to be a
common occurrence when beginning the download of a large file.

The site must be busy. Mine's supposedly going to take over six hours
now. Earlier today it was going to take over four days at 0.x KB/sec.
I have DSL.

It's a honkin' big thing. Totally irrelevant to your situation, but I'm on
56K dial-up - and the estimated 2hr.50-something-minutes download time actually
took well over 8 hours. And that was beginning late afternoon on a Friday,
with no other programs open on my computer, and - as has been my experience -
during a relatively quiet webtimeWin with over 1G RAM, BTW.

How have others been doing?Although I'd think I'm one of the few dial-up
troglodytes left out herebut believe me, it's not by choice.

The download for Mac is 107MB, which is much larger than previous
updates. The Finale download page estimates that it will take 10
minutes or so -- but this assumes that you're getting full bandwidth
on your end *and* on the Finale end. When I downloaded the Windows
update last week, there was a real bottleneck at the Finale end, and
it took quite a while.

Anyway, set it to download when you go to dinner, or when you go to
bed, and then it won't bother you.

Aaron.

Yeah, yeahrub it in

It's the trade-off for living in a glorious forest with clean, cedar-scented
air and no neighbors for miles. No traffic, no air pollution, no crime, no
sirens.

But a tree'll probably fall on me and a bear will eat up what's left.

Damn, I miss Manhattan.
