Re: [Finale] Converting Fin's AIFF to mp3
I'm wondering if this thread might be a clue in a problem I've been having in Finale 2012 for Mac: I get my score playing back reasonably well, with all the instruments sounding natural enough to create a good demo. However, when I convert to MP3 it sounds thin and long notes stutter like they're gasping for breath. Barely usable. Does anyone have any ideas what's going on? Why is there a disparity between playback and export to MP3? Greg Scheer ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

You can use iTunes to convert the aiff's to mp3. Create a playlist in iTunes, drag the aiff's there and convert (choose the mp3 setting first) / Chris Bell 2013-11-17 skrev Giovanni Andreani : This is slightly off topic, although the required workaround is necessary because of Finale's ability of saving directly in AIFF and not in mp3 when external audio units are loaded for the instruments' playback. I will soonly need to generate a very high number of audio files from Finale 2014 using the Garritan Instruments and other instruments within the Kontact 5 player; audio files will then have to be embedded in videos and the mp3 format is the most indicated for saving disk space and streaming time. I would prefer to avoid importing the AIFFs and exporting them within iTunes 'cause this is quite time consuming due to the number of single operations one has to go thru and would like to know if there's any kind of utility out there that would convert an AIFF to mp3 on the fly. Have you checked out LAME? I'm pretty sure it has a command line interface that would suit your needs. I use LAME in REAPER, and it works great there. http://lame.sourceforge.net/ On Sun, Nov 17, 2013 at 9:09 AM, ch...@directionsinmusic.com wrote: You can use iTunes to convert the aiff's to mp3. Hi Giovanni, You know I'm the same situation, even if I'm still thinking to record mine. Importing audio file in logic pro will give them more quality than Garritan, than you can bounce them saving mp3s. If you are on a Mac, you want All2MP3. It's free. http://download.cnet.com/All2MP3/3000-2140_4-190407.html This is slightly off topic, although the required workaround is necessary because of Finale's ability of saving directly in AIFF and not in mp3 when external audio units are loaded for the instruments' playback. If you use a Mac this does wonders. Converts using the iTunes engine but never puts the files actually into iTunes. Easy to use. http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=dropafewmyway Andrew Levin ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
