Re: [Fink-devel] Can someone add "fink validate" docs somewhere I can find them?

2002-12-24 Thread Carsten

Please add an updated shell auto-completion with all the new fink
commands too, a few are missing (can't remember which off the top of my
head.)

(Also "fink check" is an alias for "fink validate", I find that easier
to remember)

Thanks,
Carsten

So if you want people to "validate" their packages prior to
submission,
it
should be more prominent on the web pages and maybe in "fink --help"
somewhere. Otherwise you get guys like me with short memories spinning
their wheels looking for it.

I will look into the issue as soon as the holidays are over. Thank you
for
mentioning it, but please do CC me a direct mail whenever you find
something
to be wrong with the docs. Sometimes I might not catch a mail from the
mailing lists, especially when I am on holidays.

I will see to it, that I can at least alter the fink --help output to
reflect
this as soon as the holidays are over.

2002-12-24 Thread Justin Hallett
all the commands are in /sw/lib/perl5/Fink/Engine.pm I wouldn't play in
there but you can find the list at least. New docs are in the making ATM.

[Fink-devel] Can someone add "fink validate" docs somewhere I can find them?

2002-12-24 Thread Hisashi T Fujinaka
I should finally be able to remember "validate" but somehow I had "verify"
stuck in my head. So I looked through /sw/bin/fink and didn't see anything
starting with "ver" that worked. Then I looked at the man page. Then I
searched the web page.

So if you want people to "validate" their packages prior to submission, it
should be more prominent on the web pages and maybe in "fink --help"
somewhere. Otherwise you get guys like me with short memories spinning
their wheels looking for it.

I can only agree. Many people might choose to run 5.8 (like I do) and that is
a minor annoyance at times.

I do so think that it is important to check the syntax and make sure that it
is valid. I am no perl guru, so people like Mister Schwartz, be my guest ;)
