Thanks.

In the meantime, I just commited rev 3 of the package, which hopefully
fixes the issue. Please tell me how it works for you (you'll need to
run a fink selfupdate first, of course). Thanks also to Daniel.

Re: [Fink-devel] problem while porting

2010-03-03 Thread Max Horn
Hi there,

in addition to the things that have already been pointed out, I'd like
to make another comment, see bewlo.

Am 02.03.2010 um 18:49 schrieb Pranay Airan:

so i figured out the way to resolve this problem. i am putting our
own _structs.h into /sw/include folder and it is compiling from
there, but now i am facing a new problem when i am running fink -m --
 build-as-nobody rebuild cilk

Adding _structs.h into /sw/include is *not* a good idea. This could
cause every other Fink package to break, hypothetically.

The file /usr/include/mach/i386/_structs.h is *not* buggy or
incorrect. If your compiler cannot parse it, then your compiler does
not support ISO C completely -- in fact, already KR C supported
bitfields, it's been part of the C standard for ever.

So, you need a workaround for this problem (which, based on your brief
descriptions, sounds like a bug in CILK). But that workaround should
be local and specific to your package, and should not affect anything
else.

In this particular case, the first thing to try would be to fix CILK;
but since that is probably not an option, the next best thing is to
follow the advice Peter already gave:

 On Tue, Mar 2, 2010 at 9:56 PM, Peter O'Gorman pe...@pogma.com
 mailto:pe...@pogma.com wrote:

No you can not patch it in the process of packaging, if you
need a modified _structs.h, mkdir -p mach/i386 in the build dir
 and put
your modified _structs.h there (making sure, of course, that the
 build
dir is in the -I paths).

Re: [Fink-devel] Problem compiling dosbox

2010-03-03 Thread Dr. Wolfram Schroers
I wish you to get well soon!

The issue is related to the that fact that Apple switched from
ComponentDescription to AudioComponentDescription in 10.6, and deprecated
some AudioUnit API in 10.5. And I can confirm that the issue occurs indeed on
32bit 10.6 (though this is suprisingly the first report I got on the issue).

I know several ways to work around the issue, but so far I like none, esp.
since I want the package to still work on 10.5. I'll tell you once I
committed one of them. For now, I am a bit ill and need to get sleep.

current pyobjc-py25

(once again, this is a maintained package, so fink-users + the
maintainer's address is probably a better option than fink-devel)

Alex,

it seems we had an exchange about this same problem already a couple of
months ago:
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.os.macosx.fink.user/30008/focus=30017
The situation has not evolved since.

I have an experimental version you can try in my repository at:
http://delx.net.au/hg/finkinfos

It works for me on OSX 10.5 10.6 with Python 2.6. However it doesn't
seem to work with Python 2.5 :\

The package currently in Fink only works with Python2.5 on OSX 10.5.

[Fink-devel] Packaging Tutorial Suggestions

2010-03-03 Thread David Lowe
From my own stumbling through the packaging tutorial, i've a few things
to suggest for addition that i wished i'd known while doing this. Had this
been a wiki, i would have already put them in...

* At the end of section 1.2 or the beginning of section 1.3, insert a command
to fink install passwd. Without this installed, warnings are generated
during the fink -m --build-as-nobody step - due to the lack of the 'fink-bld'
user.

* In section 1.3 right after the command fink -m --build-as-nobody, it
wouldn't hurt to mention that failure to fetch the tarball is to be expected
because the new package is unlikely to reside in any of the fink mirrors. The
user will have to 'go to next mirror set' one or more times before curl will be
able to find the file.
