[Fink-devel] nessus-1.2.6-1 version number question

2005-11-16 Thread Ron and Sharon
Regarding the package nessus, the Fink Version seems to be 1.2.6-1
Yet on the Nessus site www.nessus.org, the current version is
listed as 2.2.6 How does the Fink based app version number relate to
the mother WebSite app version number? Did I not update something?
I am more familiar with Darwinports and their Nessus version seems to
be the same as the Nessus WebSite. I'm just confused/

Thanks

Ron

The version in the fink unstable tree (which is not turned on by
default) is 2.2.5. The package maintainer just hasn't moved that
version over to the stable tree yet, which is why the that version
is so ancient.

  http://fink.sourceforge.net/faq/usage-fink.php?phpLang=en#unstable

It appears that you're using a very old version of fink, and only from
the binary distribution.
I'm not sure, but I'd wager this version of fink will not play well with
10.4, in addition to not having particularly current packages.

Probably the best remedy at this point is to follow the directions on
http://fink.sf.net/ for getting fink to work with OS 10.4.

2004-12-07 Thread Jeff Plum
Hey, if you are already working on it, it yours. :-) If you need
help, let me know. I would like to learn more about how to maintain
software for Fink. I volunteered, because I needed to use Nessus and
FINK is the fastest way on a MAC. The current Nessus is 1.2.6 and I
wanted a newer version. The easiest way to get what you want is to do
it and not to complain because someone else won't do it for you.

If I can help, let me know. Thanks for working on updating Nessus. If
you need a guinea pig, I'm here.
