Re: [Fink-users] Database software?

2003-08-02 Thread Brian Morton
If you are looking for a spreadsheet, I would go with Gnumeric. Also,
OpenOffice has a pretty nice spreadsheet application and is more like
Appleworks (has lots of other stuff, you may or may not need). It is
not very lightweight, however.

Good luck.

RE: [Fink-users] file-spec-pm fails install

2003-08-02 Thread Alexander K. Hansen
Since the conflicting file is just a manpage, you should be free to follow
the instructions in

http://fink.sourceforge.net/faq/comp-general.php#also_in .

It still does need to be fixed.

Subject: [Fink-users] file-spec-pm fails install

Hi,

While trying to install file-spec-pm I get the following error:

dpkg -i

file-spec-pm is needed by another package (test-harness-pm), but maybe
it is already part of perl580? Would it be ok to remove the
file-spec-pm from the depends line of test-harness-pm, or will that
break other things?

Any ideas?

thanks,

- Koen.

2003-08-02 Thread jfm
Koen,

You also shouldn't install test-harness: it too is included in perl580
(as well as file-spec).
There are some 20 packages like that, which have to be fixed.

JF Mertens

PS: Those are the packages involved :

attribute-handlers-pm cgi-pm digest-md5-pm file-spec-pm file-temp-pm
filter-simple-pm filter-util-pm getopt-long-pm i18n-langtags-pm
libnet-pm locale-maketext-pm memoize-pm mime-base64-pm
scalar-list-utils-pm storable-pm test-harness-pm test-simple-pm
text-tabs-wrap-pm time-hires-pm

If you haven't rebooted since doing this build, could you tar up your
/tmp/kde-build directory and e-mail it to me? (off-list please, it could
be kind of big)

I'll see if I can figure out what's going on... somewhere up above in that
build karbon didn't complete.

[Fink-users] Re: Wine On Mac

2003-08-02 Thread ATMRD
Hey Adrian,
I am a member of the darwine project and there is a breif how to avail at

http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=743297&group_id=69890&atid=526089

We are all very excited about this port with both the success and progress we have made.
So far a few membersof the project , myself included,   have gotten wine to compile using Pierre's patch however seem to be having problems with the installation failing and actual wine binary executing.   If you, or anyone for that matter would want to help out with the project it would be more than appricated.   Thanks for spreading the word.
