nope--that's a residual build tree.

If you don't have openldap-ssl-dev, try installing that (it may be a

Re: [Fink-users] persistent node exists error solved

2005-04-04 Thread Hanspeter Niederstrasser
I was able to fix this by also doing a --force-depends on
pango1-xft2-shlibs and pango1-xft2, not just pango1-xft2-dev. Although
the error clearly stated -dev was the error cause, the issue seemed to
propagate throughout the entire splitoff family. Perhaps this should be
pointed out in the FAQ as a possible issue that might arise when a user
tries to fix this?

[Fink-users] switching to unstable tree, dpkg, can't find curses file

2005-04-04 Thread Brian Burton
My goal is to install recode which is on the unstable tree. I read the
FAQ and first attempted to switch over to CVS updating and got an error
message when building dpkg about not finding the curses file. I then
removed /sw and re-installed Fink 0.7.1 and attempted to use the whole
unstable tree by doing the following:

If you want Fink to use all of unstable, edit /sw/etc/fink.conf, add
unstable/main and unstable/crypto to the Trees: line, and then run fink
selfupdate; fink index.

Again, when building dpkg, it comes up with an error message about not
finding the curses file. Here is the summary of the error messages:

/ErrorStuff
It appears that the command to build the curses file uses head -n.
However, it turned out that I had installed LWP from perl's CPAN which
had installed a different kind of head utility into /usr/bin which
fetches the head of a HTTP request!. I copied HEAD, GET, and POST from
/usr/bin to /usr/local/bin and then restored the original head from the
Panther CDs. Problem fixed.

I did not have openldap-ssl-dev installed, so I installed it, did a

the same result as before! I checked the depends and all the others

Up to this point I have not had any trouble installing the

kdetoys3, and kdeartwork3 packages. I will try to install the other

Hi Erik,
You might want to check 'which python' to see if you are using the fink
version or Apple's version. Then look in the site-packages directory
(usually inside of /sw/lib/python2.3/) to see if pygtk is actually
inside.

Hope this helps,

If it's not working, please tell us *exactly* *what* isn't working
