Is there a remedy or should I install Fink from scratch again?

[Fink-users] Can't resolve dependency "po4a"

2016-09-22 Thread Claus Atzenbeck
Hello:

After updating so Sierra, I've realized that I should have updated fink
first. So, I did a clean install of fink.

However, I cannot install vim anymore:

 $ fink install vim
 Password:
Information about 9831 packages read in 1 seconds.
Can't resolve dependency "po4a" for package "dos2unix-7.3.4-1" (no
matching packages/versions found)
 Exiting with failure.

Some details:

 Mac OS X 10.12 i386
 Package manager version: 0.41.0
 Distribution version: selfupdate-rsync Thu Sep 22 11:47:29 2016, 10.12,
x86_64

Is there anything I can do at the moment?

Best,
Claus

While a fix goes into distribution, you can copy the file
/sw/fink/dists/stable/main/finkinfo/devel/po4a-10.11.info to
/sw/fink/dists/local/main/finkinfo/devel/po4a-10.12.info, and edit the
Distribution: line near the top to read 10.12.

It may not have been built and uploaded just yet.

[Fink-users] Fink on El Capitan

2016-09-22 Thread PNM
Hi guys,

I assumed that for those of us with ancient computers stuck on El Capitan, fink
selfupdate will be the proper course for some time to come. Kindly advise if
changes are imminent.

Best,

That’s right. The only mild change is that we don’t pause builds any more
because of mismatched Xcode.app and Xcode CLI—because Apple decided to have use
Xcode 8 with the 7.x command-line tools there.
