[Fink-users] Since when does autoconf2.5 depend on emacs?

2004-06-19 Thread Eric Hoch
Hi List,

today I wanted to update my fink version is Package manager
version: 0.20.4 Distribution version: 0.7.0.cvs running on a Power
Mac G4 Dual 1.42 Ghz. Among the files to be updated is autoconf2.5
which now wants me to select an emacs version in oder to satisfy a
depency. Since which version of autoconf is this necessary. Is it
now forbidden to edit configuration files with other editors then
emacs?

Regards,
Eric Hoch

I see the same problem with my powerbook. It's keeping me from
performing a 'fink update-all'. I don't want to install an editor that
I won't use to satisfy a dependency. What reason can there be for
including emacs as a dependency?

Any body know any work-arounds?

install or choose the emacsen-common package. You don't get emacs, just the
places to put emacs bits for autoconf.

Thanks Peter, that didn't work right after I installed emacsen-common,
but once I'd done a fink selfupdate with the new emacsen-common in
place, it did work (no emacs needed for me!).

All set now.
Thanks again.

After another fink selfupdate this worked for me here. Thank you.
