[Fink-users] XFree86 4.3 disappeared from Fink???

2003-03-17 Thread Mothra
Okay maybe its just me but..
Before the weekend, I removed Apple's X11 on my Powerbook and installed
the XDarwin 4.3 distro using Fink..
Well it worked fine with Sawfish until I installed Windowmaker..
Then nothing would work..
So I got rid of my /sw directory once again and deleted all pertinent
X11 folders..
Now I just reinstalled and cvs-updated Fink, and that version of XFree86
is no longer available??
What the heck??

Are you sure you activated the unstable tree?

Yeah I did definitely. is weird, i finally got it to show up, but it
took like 2 or 3 selfupdate-cvs commands before it did.
I killed everything since I had nothing really installed yet, and
reinstalled fink and got the same results. They showed up but it
wouldn't pull everything from the unstable tree at once for some
reason. It took a few tries and each time more and more of the unstable
releases would finally show up.

Odd..

xfree86 and xfree86-shlibs install XFree86 4.3.0. Isn't this what you
need?

Cheers,
Kow

Are you using FinkCommander? I have observed this behavior there
sometimes, too. I don't know how it can happen, because if you do
selfupdate-cvs, either with FinkCommander or by hand, there is no way
(except stopping cvs before it finishes) that only part of the packages
get updated. I think that FinkCommander sometimes is lying about the
packages that are present on the system. If you use "fink list" on the
command line, I am pretty sure this cannot happen.
