I finally figured it out

sudo launchctl load -w
/sw64/share/dbus/launchd/org.finkproject.dbus-session.plist

got it going, followed by reinstall dbus

I now remember I had to use unload -w awhile ago due to conflicts arising from
having multiple fink installations on one machine.

There needs to be a way to deactivate this annoyance without bringing
everything to a grinding halt...

I've now tried every script in that directory in which the string
*dbus* appears, to no avail (they all run without complaint).

"nothing found to load" is a launchctl message. I don't know anything
about it though. I don't even know if that's a red-herring, since the
commands in the .deb scripts that involve launchctl all seem to be
shielded with "|| :" so *even if* they have a fatal error the script
itself shouldn't exit with an error.

You might try running the commands from
/sw64/var/lib/dpkg/info/dbus.postrm manually to see what's failing--that
way we can see what is griping.

[Fink-users] getting thrown under dbus

2010-04-20 Thread William G. Scott
I keep running into this problem on several machines:

Unpacking replacement dbus ...
nothing found to load
dpkg: warning - old post-removal script returned error exit status 1
dpkg - trying script from the new package instead ...
nothing found to load
/sw64/bin/dpkg: error processing /sw64/fink/dists/unstable/main/binary-
darwin-x86_64/libs/dbus_1.2.16-101_darwin-x86_64.deb (--install):
subprocess new post-removal script returned error exit status 1
nothing found to load
dpkg: error while cleaning up:
subprocess pre-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
  /sw64/fink/dists/unstable/main/binary-darwin-x86_64/libs/
dbus_1.2.16-101_darwin-x86_64.deb
### execution of /sw64/bin/dpkg-lockwait failed, exit code 1
Failed: can't install package dbus-1.2.16-101

Any workarounds? I am stuck...

Bill
