You need to run notepad (or whatever you're using to edit the 
machine.config) as Administrator. The easiest way is to right-click on 
the Notepad shortcut in the start menu, choose "Run as Administrator" 
and then use File->Open... to open the machine.config.

[Firebird-net-provider] access denied to Vista machine.config

I'm sure this is not a FB.net provider issue, but I thought I could get a
quick answer here.

 

I have just upgraded to a Vista Business laptop and have installed the .net
provider.  Now when I try to modify the machine.config to add the FB
provided, I cannot save because access is denied.  I have opened a Windows
explorer as Administrator and then opened the machine.config from here, but
no go on the save.

 

Can someone help?
