This message is from: Sanders [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wow, what a wonderful trip! Next time you go I'll volunteer to keep you company. Your writing is so descriptive I felt as if I wanted to be there! Those are the things in life that memories are made of. Thanks for sharing such a rich story with us. When the BB way stations are up and running we'll have to take our family and go! Thanks Teresa Sanders Jennie's Mom in North Idaho - Original Message - From: Mark and Lisa McGinley [EMAIL PROTECTED] While we were in Montana we took a short ride in the foothills of the Rockies to see how they would do...We arrived after dark and there was a fire in the wood stove and some cowboy music on inside.. When we were saddling up a herd of Bison came through and we ducked into a small corral to wait it out and the horses were sure interested in those big ugly cows. We also rode through a few Prairie dog towns, rode past a small herd of wild horses and saw plenty of other wildlife. We all liked going up and down through the creek beds, some of the washouts were 20 to 30 feet deep and the horses would canter up the other side when we let them. The footing out there is all hard pack clay and was very easy on the horses feet. We decided that we would definitely go back and ride here again.
Re: Gelding
This message is from: Alison Bakken [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi Sue, I like to geld my boys that are not stallion prospects at a year old. I have limited space to keep stallions and yearlings have been known to breed. As to the question of shoes. I feel that this depends on your horse's feet, the ground that you are working on and the amount of riding. I usually have my horse shod if I am doing a lot of work on a gravel rock or heading for the mountains. Alison Bakken from Alberta

This message is from: Karen McCarthy [EMAIL PROTECTED] From: Mary Wood [EMAIL PROTECTED] Aaron is at the trainers and he trembles with fear, he is ground driving and pulling a 4ftx4ft. harrow, and mounts and walks and stops also But he trembles as if fearful. He's willing just seems scared. Sheila W. This is very sad. No matter what breed of horse it is, training should not continue until confidence is there. A wreck is waiting to happen, and either the horse or handler will be hurt. Stop now and go back to the basics of working this horse on the ground. Take him home and get his trust before you do anything else. A trainer that would continue with fear this strong is not a good trainer, please consider the good of the horse first. Mary Mary, I really agree with you here.Well said. Sheila, sometimes it is very hard to admit that things are headed on the wrong course, especially if you are in-experienced, but, its really time to stop and re-evaluate your situation NOW. Those of us with allot of driving experience under our belts, (and there are quite a few on this list ), would agree with Mary's advice. We're all here on this List to encourage and support one another - and issue words of warning as well. New Mexico Visits
This message is from: Larson [EMAIL PROTECTED] Well, it's Saturday morning in New Mexico and this is the first time in days I have had a chance to turn on the 'puter. We've got snow, snow and more snow this morning. Didn't someone say it is Spring? Cynthia M. visited our humble home on Wednesday last and it was a blast. She graciously offered to help us feed our beasties before we grilled some burgers for ourselves. We got to see a lot of photos of Tank and the Morgans...Steve and the granddaughters. People have mentioned it often and I agree: it is so nice to put faces to the names on the List. Anyway, we had a real hoot of an evening even when things got too hectic with too many dogs and too many kids. We really enjoyed your visit, Cynthia! Please come back anytime. Larson in Gallup NM where winter has really set in.

New Fjord (number 3)
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Three years ago on April 1st I purchased my first Fjord, today on April 1st I will pick up my third. Mike said once that Fjords are like potato chips you can't have just one. True very True. I have had so much fun with my first Fjord doing a bit of showing, drives with the local carriage club, parades and much more that I don't want it to stop when I breed Katrina this year. Heather my 2nd Fjord is a coming 2 year old and is not ready for much yet. So I purchased Anvils Ljosen an 18 year old gelding. Ljosen has been owned by the same owner for 15 years and has been standing in a pasture for much of that time. Someone at one time trained him to drive and trained him well, and he hasn't forgotten. He is great fun to ride and drive and will be a fitting replacement for Katrina if and when she has a baby to take care of. I will also be able to drive him as a pair with Katrina they will need a little work but they are built so much alike when I am up behind them I have to remember who I put on which side. Anvils Ljosen is registered with the Canadian (3 fjords registered with 3 registries) his sire was Ljosen and his dam was Laura. Can any one tell me about his sire?, his name sounds familiar.
