Sue, Usually sometime between 5 and 6 years old you can be pretty sure he won't grow any taller, or get any larger in body mass(unless he gets too fat ;)). My gelding grew over this past winter - between 4 and 5 years old - another whole inch. Making him too tall to get my foot in the stirrup easily. Libby Show
This message is from: "Ron & Sherrie Dayton" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi List, Ruthie Bushnell suggested I share some information for those of you thinking about coming to Libby but hadn't been able to find a room in Libby. Her suggestion was that you might find a room in Troy. Troy is only about 18 to 20 miles from Libby. Ruthie says that there are 2 motels in Troy. You might want to contact her personally for information . To my knowledge all the rooms in Libby are filled up. Most of the rooms in town fill up for Nordicfest anyway, but this year with all the firefighters in town there's nothing available. Anyone that is hauling horses or has a camper, tent or motor home can camp on the show grounds. There are no full hook ups but we do have hot showers now. They've added privacy curtains, hooks and mirrors this year. Its $5.00 per night to camp. I'm going to include 2 phone #'s that you can call for road conditions, the first is for the State of Montana Road Conditions, 800-226-7623, and the 2nd is for the Kootenai National Forest in Libby, they may have information on local road closures, 406-293-6211. At this time there are no road closures, that I know of. Road closures are going to change on an hourly basis. Most of the big fires are no where near Libby. A few years back we had fires burning right out side of Libby and it didn't have any effect on Nordicfest or the Horse show. As Patty Petersen said the other day, they do get smoke in town and then in the afternoon the breeze clears it out. For those of you coming to Libby, on Friday night Sunwood fjords will be hosting a pot luck, we'll have BBQ beef sandwiches. Stop by and visit us. Bring a dish of some kind. We'll also be doing something on Sunday morning like we did last year. All of you coming, have a safe trip and we'll see you in Libby, if you have any questions please contact me and I'll try and get an answer for you. Sherrie

brag alert
This message is from: "Dave Walter" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Just wanted to share with others are Fair results. We brought 4 Fjord to the Manitowoc County Fair in Manitowoc WI this last week. First we let Rachel show Sara during the 4H part of the Fair. Sara is a 5 yr. old mare who rides and drives. Rachel took her in Showmanship, halter, trail, pleasure riding and equitation class. They took 1st, 5th, 1st, 1st and 3rd. They had good competition, with up to 9 in some of their classes. She qualified to go to the state Fair with wining a 1st at Fair. Sara was a great representative of the breed and everyone loved her. That took care of Tues. - Thur. Then on Friday we brought in Silas, a 3 yr. old white dun gelding, Jake a 2 yr. old gelding and Gyda a 2 yr. old filly. They were all great, taking 1st and 2nds in all their classes. The numbers were down and we did not have very many in our classes but the horses behaved wonderfully. Gyda had never been off the farm before and had never seen another horse besides a Fjord. She was entered in two driving classes, she was great, she never missed a stride. I even had her driving in the ring with the big boy-draft horses, she didn't mind at all. She is a nice horse! I was very proud of these guys. I did ride a percheron in the walk/trot draft class. I have to say if I ever changed breeds it might be to draft. That was hoot, we got 1st and I just loved riding her. I rode her in my dressage saddle and is she smooth and responsive. We had a great time and everyone loved the Fjords. It is nice to bring them out and let people enjoy them. Just had to brag :-) Patti Jo
Re: Togetherness
This message is from: John and Martie Bolinski <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I think this is an all-horse thing. I am able to exercise 2 ponies at once by taking Kilar out driving or riding and letting Wee Willy run around hollering and bucking while we are out. When I take Wee out though, Kilar just eats his hay and ignores us. Only a one-way 2-horse workout? Martie :-))

This message is from: "Fred & Lori Osmond" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi all, It's been a long time since I've written in. Been busy as all!!! Does anyone have any info. on the Turlock show? I am interested in taking my Jess for the fun events that I saw last year. They seemed to be on Friday. Is there a schedule anywhere and how do you get to keep your horse in a stall for the night? Are they all taken? Thanks, Lori CATSOFOZ [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.geocities.com/MadisonAvenue/8660 - Scottish Fold Web site LOSE WEIGHT NOW... ASK ME HOW!!! This message is from: "Bushnell's" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >THE GOOD NEWS is Libby area looks fine so far, I talked to Ruthie Bushnell, >the other day and even though according to the maps they look literally >surrounded by fire. She said most of them are high on mountain tops and not >very big, and their haven't been any too close to Libby either, >So keep planning to come > YES, MICHELLE! Libby looks good, we were there last evening and you wouldn't even think there was a forest fire situation if it wasn't for sighting the occasional yellow jacketed fire personnel. Don't let those spot fire maps alarm you, many of them are still marked although they've been contained or put out. We're 35 miles west of there and we're doing well too, thank God! We've only had two days when there was faint smoke in the air because of heavy atmosphere. We're sorry to hear you're having to evacuate your horses and contending with heavy smoke. You take care!
