Extended Route, MA-ME-CO-UT-WI
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello everyone, We are currently in route to the East coast, heading toward MA. We have been asked to extend this trip and go to Maine, Colorado, Utah, back to Wisconsin, then to Michigan. We have a few stalls available throughout this segment of this route. If anyone needs a Fjord transported to these states, or any states along this route, please let us know and we will give you a quote. Current Coggins and Heath certificates are required. References are available. As a side note, due to requests we have had in the past we feel it necessary to explain our policy regarding transporting horses. We offer the horses free choice hay (preferably hay they are used to from the farm they are leaving), water, and breaks every 4 hours. They also will get an overnight break. Please do not ask us to drive straight through and to not give the horses breaks, we will not do this. We realize the cost for you could be less, certainly, but we will not transport our own horses or ponies in this fashion, nor will we anyone else's. Our goal is to have the horses and ponies arrive to their new farm in the best possible condition with the least amount of trauma. This is a tried and proven practice for transporting horses as safely as possible. Equus America, Kansas City, Missouri
This message is from: "Debby Stai" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I'd gotten a telephone call several weeks ago from a representative of the Equus America event that will be held in Kansas City, Missouri in April of 2003. She'd gotten my name from another fjord owner and asked if I'd be interested in bringing a fjord to this event. Amber will be due less than a month so I'll not take her but I did tell her she could send me the information and I'd forward it to any fjord owners that might be interested. I got the information in the mail yesterday, I've never been to one of these before so had no idea what it was all about. Seems it would be the serious breeder that would benefit from this, showing his stallion, mares, youngsters he/she produces. I just have 2fjords for my own personal pleasure. And the cost of the stall is 400., this she didn't mention on the phone or I'd have said no right away. The info mentions it is "John Lyons presents Equus America" and the invitation was to be a part of the America Breed Boulevard. It will be at the American Royal Center in Kansas City, Missouri on April 24-27, and at the Reliant Arena in Houston, Tx on Feb 6-9, 2003. If anyone is interested in getting more info they can write me or call Anita Mays at 937-859-4363. I know nothing about this event, know nothing about the facilities, just thought I'd pass it on, maybe someone has done it before and could share more information. Debby

This message is from: Don Brackett <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Thank you all who responded! I knew that this group would have good answers. Seem like the blue heated buckets would work best for us. I know that Osa and Geilo would find floating toys just too irresistible! Found good prices at valley vet supply - $32.95 for the 5 gallon and $59.95 for the 16 gallon. Jane In Maine where it snowed about 3 inches last night and has been sleeting all morning! Very disappointing weather as Sunday is our trail riding day - no hunters.
Re: stock tank heaters
This message is from: bolinsj <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> There is a recycle center near us that makes plastic wood out of recycled bottles and stuff. If you haul yourself, it is not much more expensive than real wood and works nice in the barns. All our stalls are built from it. It is sort of like the decking, but less expensive and maybe has some 'holes' (bubbles?) in the interior that make the ends look less pleasing than the good decking, but it works great. We used a 'barn red' color so it also hides some of the dirt. There are some tricks to working with it, but I guess it is the same with the plastic decking. More reinforcing than wood. But way less maintenance. I have not used my two for fear the horses would get burned by the heater at the bottom or shocked.?? -- Jean, The heater is not exposed in my 5 gal. bucket. It seems there are two buckets together and the heater is between the two bottoms. I do make sure it is never totally empty. So you do not see the heater at all and the cord has wire on it, but I still make sure it is not within chewing range. Carol M.
