Horse Cart
This message is from: "Skeels, Mark A (MED)" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi everyone, Have a question on a horse cart. I am trying to find one for my wife for Christmas. I looked at a couple today, the only problem I saw was the shaft poles were 22 and 24 inches wide through the last couple feet of the poles. This ordinarally wouldn't be a problem but my horses all seem to measure about 27-30 inches wide in the belly. Most pictures I have seen show the shafts a couple inches away from the horse on each side. Could someone measure the distance of their shafts in between, (where the horse belly would be positioned) and also at the tips. The one had wooden shafts, somewhat springy but I don't think you would want too much tension on the horse. Also how long should the shafts for a 14.1-14.2 Fjord be from the cross bar/splinter bar to the shaft tip. The 2 I looked at had no adjustment for width, unless I modified it with some machining and welding. I have also debated building my own, I don't have any problem with that as I am pretty handy with metal work and welder, but these dimensions I would still need to know. Also, I noticed some of the pictures the shafts were fairly level, others the shafts rise about 5 inches from cart to tip. It seems to me that it would be more stylish to have them fairly level. Is this correct? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks: Mark Skeels ps. Of course I suppose I could get my horses on a diet so they would fit the cart. They probably will loose a couple hundred pounds when starting to drive anyhow.
CDE's and websites for them
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] The ruling organizations are USA Equestrian (of course) and the American Driving Society. USAEq...http://www.equestrian.org/";>USA EQUESTRIAN http://www.equestrian.org/ ADS.http://www.americandrivingsociety.org/";>American Driving Society http://www.americandrivingsociety.org/ This should help. You can also do a Google search, and I think it is Geocities that has all the explanations for things equine, as well as everything else under the sun. Also, go to Shady Oaks CDE website and see pictures... http://www.extendinc.com/shadyoaks/";>Shady Oaks Events - Combined Driving Event Facility http://www.extendinc.com/shadyoaks/ Hope this helps. Carole Sweet Modesto, CA psit is always exciting to watch the Fjords go through, since I just HAVE to cheer them on, of course! And, at Shady Oaks I was able to watch them go as singles AND as a team (4-in-hand)! WOW!!!

Libby show photos / Calendars
This message is from: The Mercers <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Morning everyone, We're having a 30* heat wave this morning! The frost looks more like snow than frost. BUT, the sun is shining and it looks like it'll be a great day to play with the horses! Is there any way to find out who is who and the horses name in the Libby show photos? This was my first show so I haven't met everyone and their horses yet. Someone mentioned there's normally a calendar of Fjord photos available. Where? Thanks for any help! Taffy Mercer
Stallion prospect for-sale
This message is from: Mariposa Farm <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mariposa Farm has a 7 month old stallion prospect for-sale. He's by Valea's Lee and out of Paske 2219-B (Per x Manda). Bragi is very correct with good bone and a great personality. He has a gorgeous head and a nice dark coat with good striping. A pleasure to handle and very easy going. Moves out really nice. We have shown him in halter class 4 times and he has won first place three of those times including Blue Earth '02. He has the potential and pedigree to make a great foundation to ones breeding program. $6500 (U.S.) We might also consider trading for another like quality stallion prospect with proven lines different than our own mares and new to the midwest region. Please e-mail or call for any additional info. There are some pictures of him at our web site at http://www.mariposafarm.com Thanks, Mark McGinley Mariposa Farm Washburn, WI 715-373-2906
