Jerry Friz's response to Helena
This message is from: "jerrell friz" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> (by way of Jean Ernest <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>) [I am redirecting this from Jerry Friz, who says he can't post on the list for some reason: he gets it returned. Steve, will you check into this? Jean Ernest] Message fro Jerry Friz: Helena, you are so right, well done. What I see is that each horse's personality is different, just like people, I have never met two humans that were alike, the same with horses, sure different breeds can do better in say racing over a distance, another breed might do better at endurance, and etc. but the fundamentals and basics are the same. PLEASE LEARN TO READ YOUR HORSE Just today, I rode up to a group of people and one said, " what kind of a horse is that?" And then , one lady said, "is this breed always this gentle?" Well ,I thought to myself, a horse is a horse. I also have trouble getting on here. [The list] so will see what happens, this time. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL THE FJORDS and A HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALSO. Since all horses are considered born on the 1st Jerry Friz Anderson, Ca.

Ralph (Rolf 116A) 1971 - 2002
This message is from: Pat Wolfe <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> RALPH (ROLF 116-A) 1971 - 2002 Old Ralph is gone. He died New Years Eve at the old age of 31. Ralph was my first fjord and probably my best. I bought him when he was nine years old from Anne Cabot in the state of New York. Ralph was from very old bloodlines. His father was Oyarblakken 114-A. His grandfather was Sanko N 1522. His mother was Stjerna N 12099 and his mother's father was Gardbu N 1514. The Cabot's imported Ralph's mother from Norway. Ralph was my number one work companion for 14 years. (This horse had a huge heart; he would try anything you asked him.) His very first job at my new farm was to skid the logs for our house. He did all kinds of farm work but his best job was breaking in young horses. He was just as kind and gentle with children. We used to call him Uncle Ralph. I showed Ralph at the Woodstock Show for many years. Our favourite classes were the log skid and the cones course. From Woodstock we came home with many championships in both single and pair classes. I retired Ralph at the age of 23. For the last eight years he lived with a friend of ours doing light farm work, bringing in firewood and giving buggy rides to anyone who was interested. Most of his time was spent in the pasture with a friend. Ralph certainly touched a lot of hearts in his lifetime. He was a true family horse. We'll miss you Ralph. Pat
Re:fjord reputation
This message is from: "loretta reynolds" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hello everyone, Happy New Year to you all! I was reading through and had to give my humble opinion about Fjords. When I was horse shopping last spring, I cannot count how many people tried their very best to talk me out of getting a fjord. "They are stubborn, spoiled and will not listen" was the general comment that I was told, over and over again. I refused to listen to the so called "experts". When I did finally find my boy, While he did try to see what he could get away with, once he found that it wasn't going to work he pretty much decided that I was the head of our 2 horse herd. It should be said that while Duncan is a very good boy, he is not cut out to be a lawn ornament.I developed a severe case of sciatica about 5 weeks ago and haven't been able to ride.He was starting to become quite obnoxious. There is a trainer at our barn whostarted riding him twice a week and he is doing very well. He's learning alot from her and he really is enjoying himself. And the best thing is that prior to this Vicki has had no exposure to fjords , and she can't get over how smart Duncan is and how quickly he learns. I would say that he is doing his part to promote the breed. Regards, Loretta in NJ
