Gone to the Top
This message is from: Pat Wolfe [EMAIL PROTECTED] Prydarson (Sonny) has had a great year. In Ohio at the evaluation he received a blue silver medallion and a blue gold medallion. This is the highest award a stallion can receive in the evaluation program. A blue gold medallion (G1) means he has achieved high scores in Conformation, riding, driving and draft at the advance level. Prydarson also has the highest score in conformation of all the stallions in the program. He also did really well in the three fjord horse shows in the east. In all three he has been champion stallion and in two of the shows he was grand champion. This past weekend at the Ontario Fjord Horse Show he was champion stallion, halter grand champion, driving champion and the high score grand champion in the performance classes. Sonny is only 5 years old. I imported him from Norway as a three year old. I would like to say thank you to all the people who worked really hard to put on the shows and the evaluation that I attended this year. It is a lot of hard work and I for one appreciate the effort that had been made to make these shows happen. Thank You Pat Wolfe

This message is from: Wild Flower Fjord Farm [EMAIL PROTECTED] I would like to say congrats to everyone who helped and participated and organized the Ontario Fjord Show. It was a great time to see everyone and see all the fjords. Cheryl you did a fabulous job and I hope this show will be hosted yet again next year. We had a great time at the show and it was worth the travel time. We will for sure be there next year and hopefully with more horses and more students!!! We posted some pictures of the show that we took at www.geocities.com/Fjords2000 look for Ontario Fjord Show Renee Lafleur Wild Flower Fjord Farm

This message is from: jerrell friz [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi Cynthia, Okay, you have refreshed my memory. I do remember they came from the Bauer's. And I still think they did try to cross with Arabians, but Bill was not there long enough to get them going. I'll ask him the next time I see him.. It really is not a big deal . The bottom line is,,, it is very, very ,tough to take an animal with big bones and try to compete [ADVANCED LEVEL] with, say a Warmblood. Friesians, have the same problem. It will be interesting to see how Weatherford does in the future. [ I do think his cross is a good one] he had no problems in the vet box, as that's where I was working. Thanks, Jerry Friz PS I'm Talking ADVANCED LEVEL ONLY - Original Message - From: Cynthia Madden To: FH-L Sent: Tuesday, October 07, 2003 8:15 AM Subject: I stand corrected This message is from: Cynthia Madden [EMAIL PROTECTED] OK, I was wrong. Bill Long did drive pure bred Fjords. Jerry and Susan Keating wrote me. Hear is what Susan had to say: Yes, he did drive Pure bred Fjords. In fact Finn's wife Barbara bought their Fjords from Mr. Gene Bauer of Hestdalen Farm. ( I worked for Mr. Bauer as Manager and Trainer for 20 years, up until he passed away). I have a photo of Bill Long driving their Fjords as a Unicorn. This was when he just got started. Bill did show them in a couple of driving shows but this was when combined driving first got started and the Fjords could not make the times of the large horses. = Cynthia Madden Las Cruces, NM [EMAIL PROTECTED] (messages received on Saturday or Sunday can not be responded to until Monday) The New Yahoo! Tank the show pony
This message is from: Cynthia Madden [EMAIL PROTECTED] Our driving club, Zia Carriage Driving Club, had agreed to do a carriage driving exhibition at the Southern New Mexico State Fair last weekend. After a practice the week before - so folks would know how to change rein in a ring, etc. - we were ready to go. Al Semintore brought his Morgan pair from 3 hours away in Roswell and three local members showed up Sat. for the 11 am exhibition. We were billed as entertainment and hoped we wouldn't be tooo entertaining! Anyway, Sat. was a disaster. The rodeo crowd was finishing up and had 100 more team ropers than anticipated and there were 40 barrel racers! Needless to say, it was almost 3 by the time we could think about entering the arena. The rodeo people wouldn't let us use their PA system and the 4:00 act kept asking us to leave. We drove around the arena a few times and left. We were very upset and determined not to come back for our 2:00 pm exhibition the next day. However, after one of our members spoke to the fair manager, she urged us to come back the next day and promised to make it all better. It was. The Horse Show Superintendent couldn't have been nicer. She was very enthusiastic about the our exhibition. She frequently announced it urging people to stick around to watch. We came in only 1/2 hour late. We set up a simple scurry and ran it and then demo'ed a working pleasure driving class. It was very successful. Tank was great! Back to his old show pony self. He kept breaking into a canter during the scurry and just whizzed around the arena in the during the pleasure class demo. We let the crowd judge the class and we won! The best thing to come out of all this is that next year we will participate in the horse show. We can do anything we want in the way of classes including some speed events. So now carriage driving will have a show in southern New Mexico. Since that was our hoped for goal eventually, we succeeded even better than we hoped after such a poor start. = Cynthia Madden Las Cruces, NM [EMAIL PROTECTED] (messages received on Saturday or Sunday can not be responded to until Monday) The New Yahoo! Although not mandatory, I for one would be very interested to hear where people are from. I think it adds to the interest of the post. Especially if they are posting something for sale. I know that I would be more willing to consider buying something if it were within driving range of my house. So knowing where the item is does help sell it. Just a suggestion. Thanks. Hi List, I have to step in and agree with this request. So now I will shout it out. PLEASE INCLUDE YOU LOCATION You can make it real general and I promise not to come knocking at your door at midnight. On another note. Heidi and I are enjoying the fall colors in WI and I drive at least 3 or 4 times a week. We went on the old logging/snowmobile trail yesterday and it was hard to get back home in time to help hubby stain/paint more of the house and deck. What a job. I have to report that we did not see any bears or even deer while out in the woods. -- Carol M. On Golden Pond N. Wisconsin
