Thanks Ruthie-

There's been talk in the past about publishing a book based on my cartoons.
I always thought using the Fjords with the way they are would make a good
book - kind of a combination of Thelwell and The Far Side.

By the way there is a good article in Horse Illustrated in the July issue,
on canter transition troubleshooting. It describes how you have to work
canter problems not from the canter , but from the trot. Something I found
especially so with some of the Fjords. If your having canter issues you
have

to go back to the trot and don't force your horse to canter from a fast
trot. Anyway...its a well put together article.

Linda - I hope you will be bringing more of your goat milk soap - I am down
to the last nubbin - its the best!

See everyone at Blue Earth!
Pat

Reluctantly selling, due to lack of time and heading off to college.
Paradise's Britta, 1996 brown dun 14.2hh Norwegian Fjord mare.  Easy to
catch and handle, very friendly, good ground manners; leads, ties, loads
and trailers, good with having her feet handled and being clipped with
electric clippers.  Has been driven on a cart and been trail ridden.  I
would consider her greenbroke to ride - she is very willing and quiet but
does need her training finished.  Does not neck rein yet and is ridden in
a snaffle bit.  Asking $2,500/firm, will consider payments.  Email

I remember seeing in one of Beaver Dam Farm's videos about the big Fjord
Show in Holland, They had about 500 Fjords (with Handlers) in a group!
Also, It showed the folks turning out a bunch of Fjords into a Field before
the show..and these Fjords were strangers to each other. Of course it
wasn't crowded, but they seemed to get a long.

This is actually a class at some miniature donkey shows! Entrants
turn all their donkeys loose together (jennies and geldings, only),
and the handlers take off their shoes/boots. Sometimes the shoes are
piled; I've seen other judges toss them in every direction, making
sure no pair landed near each other! People start behind a chalk
line. At the whistle, folks run to retrieve their shoes, put them on,
then go get their leadrope out of another pile, then go catch their
donkey---which one or more of the judge's "helpers" have been busy
stirring up, getting them running around the arena. Invariably there
is at least one argument, as little brown or grey-dun donkeys can look
pretty much alike. First one to catch and lead his/her donkey back
across the finish line, wins. It's a real crowd-pleaser---
particularly since some donkeys enjoy playing "neener-neener, you
can't catch me"! Although, now that miniature donkeys come in lots
more colors than they used to, it has gotten easier to pick yours out
of the herd

LOL, it's something my husband tinkers with. :)I don't have much
familiarity with it. Once in a while I'll see that one of my son's Hawaiian
shirts
is all wrinkly, I pass the shirt to my husband and voila! A nice, crisp shirt.

Mary,
Thanks so much for your note. I have forwarded the information
about Frida to Elisa and hope to meet her on Thursday at Lexington.
I'll be in Weedsport this weekend. I sure hope something can be found
for Frida. She is a total love and the decision was not easy to decide
who would stay and who would go. Since Frida is not being used, she got
the short straw but is probably the nicer of the two Fjords. She is a
beauty.

Oh well, keeping all fingers and toes crossed that we can find homes for
the two of them.

Hi Martie

Have just been corresponding with a vet who lives in MD (don''t know if it is
in your area) and is finally in a position to purchase two fjords. She is a
rusty intermediate rider - don't know if this situation would work, but is
worth a try. She sounds like she is wanting a fjord to be a back-yard horse.
She will be attending the Lex-Eval on Thursday - I think you are coming that
day also.

Her email is [EMAIL PROTECTED] - her first name is Elisa.

Sorry I can't look up more info about her, but am real busy

Re: camping at blue earth

2004-07-22 Thread coyote

This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Does anyone camp at the Blue Earth show, in their horse trailer living
quarters, in an RV, or ??? Can you give us some advice?

Chuck and I have stayed in the local hotel in the past, but are
considering bringing our tent camper this year to cut costs and give us
a place to change clothes and get some quiet time.

Are we welcome to do this? If so, are there any "do's and don'ts" about
where to put the camper and what we can/can't do?

Are there showers we could use in the 4-H building where we have the
MWFHC meeting?

I'm a little concerned about the noise from RV generators, etc. if we
put our modest tent camper near RVs. Is that an issue?

So many questions, so little time!
