Bud Evers Service

2004-11-19 Thread Catherine lassesen
This message is from: "Catherine lassesen" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Hello Everyone,

I just returned from Redmond, OR where I attended Bud Evers' service.

The whole family was very grateful for all the notes, cards, flowers and
love that you shared with them during this rough time in their lives. It is
wonderful to be part of a Fjord network that has as much passion for the
horses as it does for all the people involved with them.

On Wednesday, November 17, 2004, at 4 PM, the service was held at the farm
of Lynne & Christie Miller (Small Farmers Journal), in Sisters, OR.

Amy drove the family's team of Fjord mares with a 4 wheeled marathon vehicle
in the hay fields that Bud spent many days horse haying with Lynne Miller in
the summer time. The sun was setting as the two sons (Bud Jr. and John) and
the two daughters (Sharon & Amy) along with Tillie rode in the vehicle to
spread his ashes over the fields that he lovingly worked in the summer.

Bud's grandson, John read a poem that he wrote for his grandfather and
Sharon (his eldest daughter) read a beautiful tribute to him that she wrote
on her long drive from Wisconsin to the family home. A large cow bell from
Germany was rung during the service. This bell was found in a real farm
supply shop in Germany and was made in Germany. It was not a tourist bell
but the real thing. Bud had always wanted one and this bell was going to be
a holiday present from Bud Jr. to Bud Sr.. Unfortunately, Bud Sr. never had
the chance to see or hear it.

If as in the movie, every time a bell rings there is a new Angel. then
several were given this status during Bud's service and I am sure that Bud
was one of them. The sun took its last look over the mountains as the
service came to a close and the family and friends gathered in the Miller's
farm house for hot coffee and OREOS. Oreos were Bud's favorite cookie. We
all toasted to the fond memories of such a great man with an Oreo.

Bud was a first generation American on one side of his family and a second
generation American on the other. He had always wanted to be an American
Cowboy. He was not only a true horseman but a true gentleman. Those of us
that met him even once or knew him well all of our lives knew this of Bud.
As his daughter Sharon said, Bud may not have had much in way of money but
he was a very rich man. He was true to his passions (horses & family) and
true to himself. He was full of love and life to the very end. "Wow" was his
last words. It makes you wonder if he was exclaiming the entrance of his
new life in Heaven. or explaining his old life on Earth. Either way, Bud
was a man of few words, but when this gentleman did speak it was worth
listening to.

Hugs to all,

Catherine Lassesen
