This message is from: "Gail Russell" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Will it be an "animal person career?" I never heard that you had started back at school. Good for you! You are on the same ranch, and surviving? School is going great. I'm almost done with my general stuff and can soon transfer to university. I am very much looking forward to completing my degree, starting a career, and having a semi-normal life ... well, as normal as a crazy animal person's life can be ;-) Brigid Wasson SF Bay Area, CA
Merry Christmas from stormy California!
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi Everyone- I don't have internet at home right now -- long story -- so haven't posted much lately. Just wanted to let you know I'm still here and enjoying my Fjordies. We've been blessed with pretty fair weather except for a couple good storms, one of them last night, rendering the ranch a muddy mess :-P. Knute and Rafael are fearlessly skiing around the pasture while their Thoroughbred companions tiptoe... School is going great. I'm almost done with my general stuff and can soon transfer to university. But I would suggest that this keeps us all on our toes and we can just hope it does not go on incessantly, where it is at this point. I hardly think any organization gets moving without dissension. The degree is the problem. Respectfully, Jean Gayle Author 'The Colonel's Daughter" Occupied Germany 1946 to 1949 Send: $20 to Three Horse's Press 7403 Blaine Rd Aberdeen, WA 98520

Christmas present for your mares.
This message is from: "Les D" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi All I have a sweet, well mannered, GREAT disposition Gentleman by the name of Grabbson ( NFR-Y-150-S ) looking for a new home. Due to our health problems ( wife had heart trouble and I'm parts and pieces ) we feel we can't handle the foals anymore. We really don't want to lose him but feel we must. I have hand bred him and field bred him. He gets along with any horses that I have put him with. His main interest is GIRLS but is easy to handle. Cynthia Madden told me that at least once he was driven at Blue Earth. The reason I bought him was all the horses that I saw that he had produced had GREAT a temperament. ( he has produced over 46 progeny, 6 were gray ). Since I got him people have told me about the Grabbson horses that they have and how great they are. Also on the list I keep seeing people with foals from Grabbson babies. Our first foal from him is already sold to a lady that plans on using him in her group horse program ( when he grows up ). I'm asking $ 5000.00 for him with travel papers but would consider other offers. We want him in a good home. We are 80 miles from the Oregon border in Northern California. So make some mares happy and bring home a Great Stallion. Les & Margaret H. Callahan,Ca
Proxy Votes and My Christmas Wish
This message is from: "Catherine lassesen" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hello Everyone... This is coming from a past Director and does not reflect the BOD in anyway, shape or form... Ok... nothing stands in your way... send your proxy to whom ever you want to represent you at the Annual Meeting. Give them to the NFHR Staff member PRIOR to the meeting. Which means it must be mailed by January 5th to guarantee to be opened and accounted for. Remember it takes time to prepare for a meeting and mail all the paperwork to the host hotel. I can tell you that at the Annual Meeting... you will hear the ANNUAL REPORT and you will meet the new Board of Directors and they will talk with you. At the past 4 out of 5 meetings... NOTHING was voted on. I can also tell you that when you voted for your Board of Directors... that is when you gave your voice for the running of NFHR. You should use your voice with the BOD of your choice and that is more effective than giving a "proxy" for a non voting meeting. Please learn the system we have. Just because other organizations are now sending out proxy votes because of bylaws changes does not mean we have to... Until our system is changed to accommodate members actually meeting and doing committee work at an annual gathering... (like AQHA or APHA or other groups) we are stuck in a system that does not give much to the Annual Meeting other than satisfying corporate law in the state we are registered in. As much as I like this list, it is really a downer. I stayed on it only to help clarify the misconceptions of the running of NFHR and find that the tone of this list gets bitter each day. There is no let up... there is no satisfaction for some. I cannot imagine what the "other" list is like... Bitch sessions are not my thing. As I have always said... join the BOD and help change it if you are not happy with the process. Sitting around with an open mouth only irritates you and those around you. I have to reflect to who is on this list... new Fjord Owners with bright eyes and big dreams of having their first Fjord... do they need to read constant bitterness?... International Fjord owners that look to this list for American news and all they get are negative in fighting... Older Fjord owners that want to just enjoy the fellowship... And some BOD members that really do want to help... yet every step they take they get pushed into a brick wall by negativity. MY CHRISTMAS WISH... is that the negative hearts will turn into positive hearts... that we can be happy in our fellowship of Fjords and learn to appreciate differences with a kinder positive heart. My wish is for those that open a mouth... they actually do more than that, that they research and provide professional written documents to our leaders as how to structurally change our organization for the better. That they communicate to the Directors directly with their concerns and not to our fellowship which is made up of International Fjord owners, new owners and some of us that want to just enjoy the day to day love for our Fjords. My wish is for a good healthy and happy 25th Anniversary year for NFHR and all its members. That we can come together in Libby, Blue Earth, Woodstock, the West Coast and at our special gathering in October in MN for great fellowship, laughter and fun with our Fjords. Over all My wish is for lighter more positive hearts... in our Fjord fellowship. Merry Christmas to you all. Catherine Lassesen Southern Oregon
Re: Proxy Votes and My Christmas Wish
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello Catherine, While I realize you wish for all of us to have "good cheer", I must admit I found your post quite the downer. I also take offense at your comments concerning the "other" list, of which I am a co-owner. It is by no means a "bitch" session nor do I wish this misperception to continue. It is similar to this list, but has a broader topic allowance. It also allows attachments so people can easily share pictures of their beloved Fjords. Those are the ONLY two differences. It is truly a shame and again, to use your words, a downer, that a past BOD member and a current Fjord Horse Foundation officer believes that those of us who CARE about the NFHR and the future of Fjords in North America should not discuss issues that concern us or those that we applaud. I would also like to remind you that we ARE members, and many of us who have discussed this topic HAVE volunteered for committees and are more than willing to assist in ideas we have brought up. There is not a one of us, I am sure, who does not wish to talk with international list members and enjoy very much their imput. I also would imagine that they understand that some of us might wish to discuss our registry upon ocassion. Why is it so important to you that we hide issues we are concerned with? I have heard the same things from you, Catherine, for a couple of years now. Join a committee. Run for a BOD position. Most of us who are concerned have done at least one, if not both. We are also members, although apparently that is of absolutely no concern to you, although this completely perplexes me. My only thought concerning the annual meeting is the item as described in the bylaws of being "action items" which, apparently is not discussed at the annual meeting. If it were, there would be an option for voting by the membership for the term "action" implies future work, goals, ideas. Not past performance or simple reporting of the past year's progress. And, for action items, I do think a proxy vote clause is something the BOD should consider. It might not be necessary now, but it will be in the future.
