Hello List!

After much deliberation, we have decided to offer SNF Otar for sale. I have
known Otar since the day he was born, and he has been nothing but a
gentleman to work with. He has been trained extensively in dressage but is
also very reliable and fun on trails. He is sane, sound, and a blast to
ride. His full ad can be viewed here:

Please contact me privately via phone or email for more information. Thank
you and happy fjording!

Hello Everyone,

The annual stallion show was held this past weekend in Norfjordeid, Norway. Results and photos have already been posted on the Norges Fjordhestlag website http://www.fjordhest.no. The direct link to the results can be found at http://www.fjordhest.no/artikkel.asp?ID=303 and the direct link to the photos at http://www.fjordhest.no/bilder.asp?mode=vis&kat=31 For all of us who couldn't be there in person, this is a great way to stay abreast of Fjord News in the mother country.

Thanks for posting the link Dan.

I was interested to see that this year's top ranked 3 year old stallion,
Merinas Emil, is sired by Knapstadprinsen, a Felix grandson, through
Felix's 1.pr son Ljosprins. Knapstadprinsen himself was also the top
ranked three year old in his year. I'd love to see this Emil horse, I
see he scored a 10 (excellent) on Breed Type. Congratulations to all his
connections, and to Felix's owner Susan Cargill. How exciting to see
Felix's legacy live on in Norway.

2008 Stallion Show at Norfjordeid

2008-05-05 Thread Olivia Farm, Inc.
This message is from: "Olivia Farm, Inc." <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Hello Everyone,

The annual stallion show was held this past weekend in Norfjordeid, Norway.
Results and photos have already been posted on the Norges Fjordhestlag website
http://www.fjordhest.no. The direct link to the results can be found at
http://www.fjordhest.no/artikkel.asp?ID=303 and the direct link to the photos
at http://www.fjordhest.no/bilder.asp?mode=vis&kat=31 For all of us who
couldn't be there in person, this is a great way to stay abreast of Fjord News
in the mother country.

For those of you not familiar with the Norwegian system, Klass 1 is comprised
of 8 year old stallions that have already earned a 2pr or 3pr and are returning
for evaluation as a more mature horse as well as on the quality of their
offspring. They may be elevated to 1pr at this time, may be left as 2 or 3
premie stallions, or may have their breeding licenses revoked.

Klass 2 is comprised of 4 year olds that were approved for breeding the
previous year and are returning for their 5 week long station testing as well
as further approval. Those that meet with further approval will receive either
a 2pr or 3pr. Those that don't meet with approval will have the words Ikke
kåret next to their name under the "Premie" column.

Klass 3 is comprised of 3 year olds who are being exhibited in the hopes of
gaining approval for their initial season of breeding. They will either be
labeled as Kåret (chosen) or Ikke kåret (not chosen). This year, one was also
labeled Avbrutt (retired).

In each class, the approved stallions will also be ranked in quality (Kv.)
This is a little more similar to what we are accustomed to in horse shows here
in North America, but is also a way for those in charge of the system to steer
the breed in certain directions by encouraging breeding to certain types of
animals or those animals with qualties that have been determined to be
particularly needed.

In any case, testing scores and commentary for each horse can also be found
by ckicking on that horses name (Navn). Of course, the commentary is all in
Norwegian, but the scores will still be interesting. The categories on the
individual score & commentary sheets are as follows:

Rasetype og preg (breed type and presence)
Kroppsbygning og muskulatur (body and musculature)
Beinkvalitet, beinstilling: Frambein:, Bakbein: (Leg Quality, Frontlegs,
Hind legs)

Bevegelse (Movement) Skritt (Walk) Trav (Trott) Galopp (Canter)

MÅL: (Measures) This line also includes Helhet eksteriør: (Overall)

Beyond this, under the heading Bruksegenskapper you will find scores
relative to any performance testing, and under the next category heading Andre
Egenskapper you will find the following:

 Lynne (Temperament)

 Holdbarhet (Stamina)

 Avkom (get or offspring)

 Vet Anm (Veterinary Remarks)

 Samla Vurdering (Commentary)

I hope this is interesting and helpful information. I'm sure it is redundant
for some of you. Regardless, we would like to congratulate all who were
involved and who's hard work and dedication to the breed continue to chart a
vibrant, successful future for the Fjord Horse.

Schooling Shows
The goals of our schooling shows are to help create an environment for
learning and experiencing what showing is all about. We will help with
educating
the riders as to what the judge is looking for. The classes have been
structured so that the riders will be able to apply what they have learned .
Some of
the key elements that are emphasized are safety in the ring, what is looked
for in each class, how the horses way of going should look for different
styles and how the rider is judged. This is also a good show for young green
horses to learn (with experienced riders riding).
There will be awards and prizes. Ribbons to 5th place.
If anyone would like to volunteer for any of the show dates. Help is always
need to keep these shows running.

If there is a class that you would like to see offered just let us know.

Just got this info today from the Pa Equine Council.. However Purina does
not indicate if it is horse feed or what kind of feed. I called Purina and
got a voice mail message saying they would get back to me tomorrow. My feed

Eastern U.S. Feed Product Retrieval
Land O’Lakes Purina Feed LLC has implemented a voluntary product retrieval
of certain feeds manufactured between November 3, 2007 and February 8, 2008
at our Statesville, N.C., feed plant; between January 1, 2008 and February
8, 2008 at our Harrisburg, Penn., feed plant; and between January 1, 2008
and March 10, 2008 at our Guilderland, N.Y. plant.

This voluntary retrieval was initiated due to the possible presence of
aflatoxin contamination above acceptable levels.

To date, we have received no confirmed aflatoxin-related animal health
complaints involving any of the retrieved products. Nevertheless, we have
taken such precautionary action as our utmost priority continues to be our
customers and the well-being of their animals.

All dealers who purchased any of the retrieved products directly from Land
O’Lakes Purina Feed LLC have been notified. These dealers are located in the
following states: Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Maine, Maryland,
Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina,
Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia and
West Virginia.

Our investigation and product testing identified one ingredient of concern,
which originated from a single supplier. We have discontinued purchasing
from this supplier. Other feed companies that purchased from this supplier
are facing a similar situation.

For more information about specific products included in the retrieval,
contact the Statesville, N.C., Feed Plant at 704-924-5100 or the Harrisburg,
Penn., Feed Plant at 717-737-4581.

Platinum Performance products are terrific! I have all of my own and
my school horses on it, and it is really impressive. My husband and
I also use it (for us), with good results: we just feel better
overall. The Platinum Performance Equine product is human quality,
and almost exactly the same as the human supplement they make, so we
only feel slightly zany doing this!
I'm so glad to hear that this horse has been so well effected by
Platinum's products.

Our vet suggested we use Bio Sponge made by Platinum Performance.
After? two days of mixing this clay substance in his Triple Crown

Equine Platinum Performance supplement. For a couple of weeks he
was on both of these products with complete success, not a single
drop of watery discharge after passing manure. Slowly we weaned him

Gray gelding for sale in WI

This message is from: "Dave and Patti Walter" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

TOTALLY ADORABLE 4 yr old Gray Gelding for sale in East Central WI. Geir is
without a doubt one of the most striking Fjords I"ve seen. VERY dark Gray,
LOTS of markings. He also has wonderful movement and a GREAT brain on him.
Very sport horse body, standing 14.1hh He is on consignment with Francis Creek
Fjords. I also started him last year in Riding and Driving. Owners do more
driving, so that is what they did with him, since he went home last fall. FCF
will work with him under saddle while he is here. We took him out on the
trails and road last year under saddle , nice trail horse! He is laid back but
with plenty of energy to do whatever discipline you'd like. Sire is Telemark
Leo, Dam is NFH Elli Then some of the names in his pedigree:(Glengard, King
Gjestar, Jonetta ,Karibu, Hamar, Anvil's Torbjorn)

I really like this boy, definately is a prospect for CDE's, Hunter/Jumper's,
Open Showing. Definately can be a youth horse with just a few more months on
him. Well taken care of gelding, Well started, can not say enough good things
about him. Contact me for more information. Working on current pics and a
video.
Have some pics of him from last year, but he just arrived yesterday and I'll
get new ones this week.
