FjordHorse List Shirts

2008-08-29 Thread Steve McIlree
This message is from: "Steve McIlree" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Finally available -- FjordHorse List shirts. I say shirts rather than
T-shirts because you can pick what you want, from a Value T-shirt
which starts at $13.75 to a Hooded Sweat Shirt which starts at $35.95.
Check 'em out and place an order at http://tinyurl.com/5utf6p. Nice
interface there lets you pick the style and color of your shirt. You
can even pick the model on whom you would like to see it displayed.
The starting prices are for white shirts, sized up to 2X. Upcharges
are applied for bigger sizes and other colors. BTW, speaking of sizes
they go down to 6 month infant.

Unlike past shirt deals, no pre-order is necessary. Place an order
today and it should be in your hands in a couple days. And you won't
have to sort through the archives to find this message in the future.
There is a copy in the classified ads under Miscellaneous Equipment.

Steve - this is probably one of the best ad sections I have ever worked
with. I think it is easier and more attractive than the interfaces at the
other
big horse sites (Dreamhorse, Equine, etc).

Really nice job - and I took the opportunity to upload an ad for a carriage
for a non-internet friend. Darn it, darn it, darn it - now I am just
shopping again !!!

Classified Ads News

2008-08-29 Thread Steve McIlree
This message is from: "Steve McIlree" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

First I would like to apologize for the hard-to-read formatting of my
message about the new logo vote. I am temporarily being forced to use
gmail for my outgoing stuff, and I've not quite got the hang of the
message editor. I do hope you will piece through my ugly message
because I feel a complete choice in this matter is important.

Anyway, on to news about the classified ads. I have upgraded to the
Full version; there were some problems with the installation the
support folks at Noah's helped me solve. I believe that between us we
have now got it under control, so I've crossed my fingers and gone
live with it. This version has several new features of which you
should be aware.

First, and I think best, you no longer have to put your contact
information in the clear on your ad. Anyone who is interested in what
you are selling will find two buttons at the bottom of the detail page
containing your ad. The first will give her a form to send a email
directly to you, your email address needs never be revealed. This will
keep it hidden from spammers, and since the form incorporates CAPTCHA,
it is safe from spam bots. The second button allows the viewer to send
an email to her friend who is looking for a horse just like the one
you are selling. Anyone who is uncomfortable with having their email
address displayed in their ad can remove it now.

Next thing I think is pretty neat, is your ability to have an email
sent to you when a new ad is posted in any category you want to watch.
In the bar at the top of each category listing page you will see a
link on the right which reads "Notify me when new ads are submitted in
this category". If you click there and you are logged in as a
registered user, you will automatically be set up to receive a
notification every time a new ad is posted there. If you are not
logged in you will be given a form to enter your email address. Great,
but what if you've found your dream fillie and no longer which to get
these emails? Well, if you've subscribed for a category, that link
will change to read "Unsubscribe from this category".

Another addition is the ability to create your individual Favorites
List. On the detail page of any ad you will see a link at the top
right which reads: "add to favorites". If you click on it will be
added to your favorites list. Once you create a favorites list, you
will see a link to "Favorites" in the menu bar at the top of pages.
Click on it and you will see a custom listings page creates from your
favorites list. You may remove items from your list by going back to
the detail page and clicking on "remove from favorites". You must have
cookies enables for this to work because that's where your list is
stored.

Finally, you will see little icons near the top of pages which will
allow you to receive the latest ads posted as an RSS feed. I've never
really been real thrilled about RSS but it was part of the full
package so it's there. If you have an RSS reader set up, you can
choose to receive the latest 20 ads on the whole site or the latest 20
ads in any given category. I'm not going to get into an explanation of
RSS here. If you don't already know and you're interested, here is the
Wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rss.

So, that's pretty much it for now. If I think of anything else I'll
let you know. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

2008-08-29 Thread vivian creigh

Winona did it again! She won the Prelim Single Pony in spite of my
total brain freeze in dressage. I didn't really forget the test
pattern I was just totally disoriented as to where I was in the ring.
Heard the bell twice and finally the head judge ran out with a copy of
the test. I just kept driving the 30m circle exclaiming every 2 secs.
that I was either lost or knew where I was going then was lost again.
This is only the third time in my life when I've been lost in a test
so I guess not bad over a 21 year period but the first where I got two
penalties for 15pts, ouch!

We've posted her dressage minus the wandering and her cones as well as
2 hazards on the WINONA NEWS page. She didn't run fast in the hazards
which seems to be our weak link and and even though we won the
marathon, not by much, so yesterday I worked hard on making her run as
fast I dared into my hand and keep it up until I asked her to come
back. She was great in by big field but when we got into my woods
trail which is extremely up and down she seemed to back off at first
then got better.

At The Laurels we face all those drivers from the PA area who are
fiercely competitive so I need to avoid making any mistakes. I'm going
to try a breathing strip on her nose on Sat when I do our last stress
day as although her recoveries are awesome she does pant. Does anyone
have any experience with these strips? They seem to have become quite
the rage in combined driving as well as eventing where they have
used been used for awhile. I'm thinking that I'll have to cut it down
to fit her nose as she's pretty dainty. Anyone who has used them
please gi
