Re: Winter riding boots
This message is from: CORINNE LUSHER [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi, I use Mountain Horse Rimfrost boots, they are wonderfully warm, have toe protectors built in and the soles are patterned to fit stirrup treads securely. Not the cheapest on the market but well worth the outlay. Re: fjordhorse-digest V2008 #226
This message is from: Emily Wigley [EMAIL PROTECTED] I totally agree! I have worn out a pair and need to shop for another! Do be careful of sizing, and try them before you buy. I've tried a few of the same sizes on and they've varied quite a bit. But they're wonderful! Carol's calendar
This message is from: safreivald [EMAIL PROTECTED] I have to second the note below--it is a LOVELY calendar. It is also available from Martie Bolinski through Twin Oaks Graphics [EMAIL PROTECTED] and if you are thinking of some really nice Fjord or other horse related gifts in addition to the calendar, check out Martie's site! She does beautiful work. I've ordered the thank you notes for the sponsor/contributors to the Virginia Draft Horse and Mule Association's Old Dominion show for the past two year from her and have gotten many rave reviews of the work she does. My boss at PERI in Arlington, Margaret Bogie of Fjord fame, has a framed water color of her stallion, Blitzen, in her office. Beautiful. Water color is such a difficult and unforgiving medium, I am always in awe of Martie's talent. And that doesn't even talk about her stained glass . . . Carol Tacey does such a great job with it--it is really quite beautiful, and such high quality. I have absolutely no stake in the calendar; I just wanted to let people know how nice I think it is and I would like to see it every year! If you want to order some and see the photographs for the 2009 calender, you can see them at http://www.painteasy.com or contact Carol at 401-789-2062. Happy Fjording! rain scald
This message is from: yvonne [EMAIL PROTECTED] This message from Yvonne Olson [EMAIL PROTECTED] in Courtenay, B.C. Rain scald is very common here where the horses love to stand in our rain soaked environment. Because we do not blanket, it does not spread badly or cause much balding. Because it is a fungus, I mix water with a little head and shoulders shampoo, and quite a few drops of pure patchouli oil which is a natural antifungal. Mixed in a squirt bottle (Honey, shampoo bottle or any bottle with a small sqeeze applicator), it is easy to squeeze a little on and rub in the affected areas. Personally I love the scent, and so the horses smell pretty . I do not rinse it off, the rain must eventually, and it does seem to keep it from getting worse. I have used this mix for years, and it works. P.s. Two of my girls and I just returned from a Steve Rother Clinic, where we worked on softness, and balancing our horses amoung many other exercises, it was the most action packed and fun time with the horses ever. Steve and his wife were lovely, and the clinic was GREAT. Love Eve(YVONNE) Spam detection software, running on the system angus.mystery.com, has identified this incoming email as possible spam. RE: Winter riding boots
This message is from: Jean Ernest [EMAIL PROTECTED] I like the Ariat Terrains for summer and the Ariat Terrain H2O waterproof and insulated for winter. Right now Crazy Horse tack has a sale and free shipping: That is where I buy all my Ariats. The Terrain H2O insulated boot is great for Alaskan winter temps (I don't ride in the -0 temps.) Crazy Horse has them for both men and women. Crazy Horse tack: www.equestrian-tack.com for free shipping use the code: FREESHIP2008 Jean in Fairbanks, Alaska, with a high today of -2 so far. Re: Winter riding boots
This message is from: shawna smith [EMAIL PROTECTED] I have a pair of Mountain Horse lace-up boots that are waterproof, well-insulated and VERY warm. Not so comfortable for walking or doing chores in as they are kind of clunky. It says metal shank on the bottom, might be why they seem cumbersome to me. Also have a pair of Ariat lace-ups, with gore-tex for waterproofing and are insulated, these are most comfortable. Lastly I have a pair of mens Ariat cowboy boots that are waterproof but not insulated. Because they are big, I wear warm thick socks and this combination has become my favorite for cold weather rides. Quick and easy to clean-up in our wet, muddy climate too. If I weren't trying to save the Ariat lace-ups for more public horse events, I'm sure I'd wear them more.
