Re: German stallion show / Equitana - long, but read it anyway!
This message is from: katesei...@aol.com Congratulations!! Not sure if it was your success, or maybe the weather - but I got goosebumps when I read this. Kate with Joe and Della (ranked first of all tested geldings and mares at the Double Up Ranch) Our own white dun Norwegian bred stallion Solbjør Borken took second place in his ring of stallions 12 years and older, which places him somewhere between 4th and 6th of all the licenced and performance tested stallions in the country. **Feeling the pinch at the grocery store? Long weekend and baby news...
This message is from: Willows Edge Farm i...@willowsedgefarm.com Well, it was one of the longest 3 days weve had here in a while Saturday we brought out old faithful (Fair Acres Ole) to the Norwegian Heritage Day where it rained off and on all day. But the rain never seems to stop people from wanting to pet a horse the crowds this year were bigger than last years. While people didnt stay out in the rain long, Ole once again was the popular exhibit. Sunday I took 4 of my students 2 to ride, 2 to help, to their first ever dressage shows. It was the first time either of the mares have seen those other horses. Mina in particular, kept whinnying at them, they would call back but she just didnt know what to do with them how strange! Shauna and Mina did a great job and ended up with a 59% their first time out. Considering theyd only rode a few times in the last couple weeks a miracle. Danielle and Greta also did their first but didnt do quite as well considering I called out the wrong turns for her (OK, Ive got the flu, so I need a little bit of a break ;-) ) But Danielle had a great time and people loved seeing the Fjords. Monday, after waiting for a foal 3 weeks over due and seriously wondering if it was ever going to come we finally got our very first, Fair Acres Ole foal! Being 3 weeks over due, shes huge, but quite the stunner. Yes, weve already named her: Willows Skjønn Ti and she has mommas head and striking ear tips and we can see Oles strong shoulder and hip in there already as well. I played with her for a bit and then headed back inside to warm up and watch Ti Elsie bond via the monitor. Scott went out to feed this morning, sat and talked with her and she just licked his face and hands all over! The vet was just out and commented on her nice strong legs! Well have a special web page for Ti up in the next day with some great new foal photos. If you are a subscriber to our newsletter, youll see a few photos in there if youre not a subscriber yet, you can subscribe and I believe it send you a welcome letter along with links to past newsletters. OK, now I really am off to bed for a day to see if I can kick this flu I HATE being sick! Re: WEG Sticker Shock
This message is from: Emily Wigley ewig...@mindspring.com I too hoped to volunteer (eventing or dressage), and am not so much worried about the ticket prices (I should have my head examined, I know!), but am much more concerned about the availability and cost of housing for volunteers (or spectators). It's nutty - there are not remotely enough hotel/motel rooms, and I can't afford a one bedroom, one bath house 25 miles (yes, that's right) from the games for $600/ day. Yikes! It's all a bit over the top, and that's frankly too bad, as I'd love to volunteer and/or spectate. NW Horse Fair Expo (Oregon)
This message is from: Karen McCarthy weeg...@hotmail.com Hey fellow NW Fjord peeps, I'll be in Albany, Or. this weekend as a participant in a Peggy Brown Centered Driving clinic. Sat. 21st @ 12:30 I'll be driving my little turbo mare, Imilie. Hopefully she won't expire from heat exhaustion as she still has at least 1/2 her winter coat...the plush little thing! (...here's hoping the arena is packed hard enough to drive on.) The Oregon Fjord Club will be there as well doing breed demos all weekend, so keep a lookout for the fjords Cheers! :: Karen McCarthy :: Great Basin Fjords :: Madras, Oregon :: http://www.picturetrail.com/weegees Important FjordHorse List Links: Subscription Management: http://tinyurl.com/5msa7e FH-L Archives: http://tinyurl.com/rcepw Classified Ads: http://tinyurl.com/5b5g2f
