This message is from: william M. Coli i...@blueheronfarm.com Anyone who has gone to one of the Equine Affaires has probably seen the Versatile Horse and Rider Competition. This is essentially a trail class on steroids, with some very tricky obstacles. We're excited to announce that one of our riders (Margaret Williams of Shelburne, MA) has been selected to compete riding our mare LFF Tulie. Tulie is a terrific Grey Fjord who has consistently done well in open hunter/jumper shows in this area and she and Margaret make a terrific team. We're all very excited and can't wait for November. This message is from: william M. Coli i...@blueheronfarm.com What a very sweet video (ad). It shows the power of YouTube. The NFHR Board of Directors has been discussing the idea of having someone develop a You Tube Channel that would be a site for Fjord enthusiasts to post videos of their Fjords in action. This is seen as a way to call attention to and promote the versatility of the breed. What do list subscribers think of such a possibility? This message is from: Fiona Lindsay-Delfino fjordluv...@yahoo.com Bill, I think that it is a great idea. Having my mare here at school with me or when we were in Florida, not many have seen or knew what a fjord was. And it would be great to get more promotion for the breed. RE: Alltech video
This message is from: Karen McCarthy weeg...@hotmail.com Bill this sounds like a wonderful idea! My only reservation is: would there be some moderating to weed out vids that show people their fjords doing stupid unsafe things? And also if folks submitted videos that they properly identify themselves and their horses. Karen in Oregon This message is from: william M. RE: November Equine Affaire in Mass.
This message is from: Karen McCarthy weeg...@hotmail.com Bill, Last weekend some friends and I were watching some really boring western riding classes at a show that was inaugurating a new local indoor arena (I was pretty much there to scope out the new facility ;~)) Anyway, while watching some of the sloppy cow work, I told my friend Linda about some of the wonderful horsemanship I had seen in mounted bullfighting on videos as a kid living in Mexico, in person. Well, she rolled her eyes at the bullfighting part when I told her, but then a couple of days ago she sent me this video. Its pretty much the same riding, but done on a trail course w/o a bull chasing them! So, to get your rider Margaret all psyched up for her Versatility Trail class, have her check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5895K-Xjupkfeature=related I love the fact that the horse isn't some wirey QH, he's a total chunky-monkey Lusitano. Shrink him down a bit and he could be a Fjord! Also, I bet that rider could have a new career riding in the Dollar Bill classes...his butt looks super-glued to his saddle. Good Luck @ Equine Affaire! you tube
This message is from: Teressa tere...@kodiakfishco.com Bill et al: The notion of a you tube fjord channel is great. We've seen some hilarious you tube videos - remember the one of the fjords destroying a couch that was in their paddock? Plus some video of fjords doing great things. It would be a great use of social media to put fjord doings on video together in one place. Willi update
This message is from: mypump...@windstream.net Hi all. Willi is doing very well! The hole in his hoof is all pink and filling in. The bandage changes are getting easier, although I think it will be quite some time before I can do it by myself. Question: we are on SMZs, 12 twice a day. The Vet whose house Willi is staying at says the surgeon put us on the gold standard of diarrea prevention, Bio Sponge twice a day and Probios once a day. So far no troubles. Willi does not like the Bio Sponge at all. Has anyone used a similiar product that may be more palatable? Thanks! RE: Willi update
This message is from: Karen McCarthy weeg...@hotmail.com Hey Kathy, I know it must be immensely horrible for the poor guy to be chugging Bio-Sponge daily (yeah, it's like asking someone to pease eat swallow a whole bowl of clay, yuk!) but I am sure he is doing it as a gastric preventative bc he's on the HD antibiotics and wants to keep his gut happy w/ and colitis freeso keep it up, it's a great hind binder (w/ apologies to Bob Ray...and if you don't know who they are, then you must be under 50 ;~)) I have used it on 3 different horses and it certainly does the trick, a bit spendy though, but Good Luck and so glad things are going well!
