Kim, Titan and Comanche
This message is from: Jeanne Zuker jmzu...@att.net My thoughts and prayers for all of you during this time.  Please keep us posted on how they are doing.  I am sure they were so happy when you came to visit, that is some of the best medicine you could have given.  Prayers that they handle their hay w/o any issues and continue to heal and progress. I hope that the tests on the hay/feed can give you some much needed answers. Not knowing the 'how' is maddening, so I hope you can get some peace on that. I am keeping Titan and Comanche on my St Francis prayer list for healing and full healthy recovery.  Blessings, Jeanne and Windy Acres Monty chilly MI Preferences § 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 - = Backspace Tab q w e r t y u i o p [ ] Return capslock a s d f g h j k l ; ' \ shift ` z x c v b n m , . / shift English Deutsch Español Français Italiano Português Ð ÑÑÑкий alt alt Preferences Important FjordHorse List Links: Subscription Management: http://tinyurl.com/5msa7e FH-L Archives: http://tinyurl.com/rcepw FH_L Shirts: http://tinyurl.com/8yky94l

This message is from: Carol Makosky cmako...@sirentel.net In the future, don't pass those things on to the list, but just mention it in the subject line. Sleighing/Thanks
This message is from: sandra minih...@hotmail.com Hello from frigid VA- Thank you to the folks who replied to my request for info on sleighing on this list privately. It looks like Steve I put the cart before the horse...or rather put the sleigh before the horse. Steve surprised me with this sleigh 3 years ago it was a complete surprise since he's not into horses. Between the lack of good sleighing weather my lack of knowledge concerning sleighing Loki's lack of preparation (training) for pulling a sleigh, I've given up any hope of sleighing with Loki. Plus it's taking up valuable space in the garage. Steve had even bought a gadget to go under the sleigh so we could easily move it...I don't know the name of the gadget but I think it's actually made for motorcycles (?). Anyone up north need a black piano box antique sleigh? Please contact me if you do. And Kim in Md., your boys are on my mind. I pray that they both recover fully and come home soon! Please keep us updated. Winter Harrowing?
This message is from: Ursula Jensen ursu...@gmail.com My best wishes to the two sick horses. A sick cat is one thing, but with the size of a sick horse it just seems more overwhelming. As many of you know we live in south central BC up in the mountains in a Valley called Trinity Valley. We are about 3 miles behind Silver Star Ski Resort which gives us 5-7 feet of snow each winter. I make snow roads with the tractor and blade or snow blower in the arena and out in the fields. A great time to train green horses as I have said before. This uncanny weather threw us a very warm spell like 45F. for several days and glare ice formed on the snow roads. Impossible to safely use. Thinking of how to rectify the situation I hooked onto my summer field harrows putting two bales of hay on each section of harrows and commenced harrowing the snow roads and around the house. The harrows worked perfectly cutting through the ice leaving grooves and a rough safe surface on which to drive. It was also rather slushy so it turned into a grooved kind of mush. Needless to say we are back to driving Fjords safely with no slippage. It certainly was a head turner!! Just so you know, Ursula has a Fjord mare for sale which drives single, pairs and fours, and I have two white dun above average. yearling fillies for sale. What a load of manure. Please filter such obvious scams. ââ Thank you for your suggestion. The filters which are in place on the List are written using Regular Expressionsâ, a data processing concept with which you may be familiar. If you can devise such a filter that will catch all or even most of the obvious, Nigerian Scams, please forward it to me and I will be happy to implement it immediately. Now, this is not to say that such a filter is not possible. I have to admit I bear some fault because the first I knew of this message was when Jean Ernest sent a warning to the List. Normally, if I had seen the actual message first, I would have warned everyone. However the message never came to my Inbox, because the filters on my Gmail account had sent it to my SPAM folder. Perhaps I should find a Google moonlighter to whip up something. Since a warning had already been sent I saw no need for redundancy, but I did immediately remove the offending email address from the active subscribers list. -- Steve It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.-- Aristotle 384-322 BC Important FjordHorse List Links: Subscription Management: http://tinyurl.com/5msa7e FH-L Archives: http://tinyurl.com/rcepw FH_L Shirts: http://tinyurl.com/8yky94l

I'm looking for info...
This message is from: Jeanne jeann...@frii.com Hello Everyone, I've been contacted by someone who is curious about a fjord horse they used to ride in a day camp (in Maryland) they attended, back in 1977. Here is some info they've passed my way: She was owned by a farm that leased the horses to Barrie Day Camp. I can't remember the name of the farm but might recognize it if I heard it. We called her Nanook. The camp did not know she was a Fjord. They told me she was an Icelandic pony, but there is no doubt she was full blooded Fjord. The camp was on Layhill Road in Silver Spring, MD. It is amazing to me that she was used as a camp horse with no one knowing what she was. I just have to wonder where she came from and where she went. I truly loved her and hence my love of the breed. Many, many thanks for indulging my curiosity. I'd love to know if any record of her exists. I have searched my database and cannot come up with anything for this person. I thought I would put it to this List, to see if anyone might, by chance, recall a camp like this, or the address, or even the horse. Please let me know if anyone has any info I can pass along. You can reply to this List or contact me privately, at jea...@nfhr.com Thanks for any help.
