Re: Fjord Calendars
This message is from: LarryMargaret Shorhen [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi Gayle: Just had a quick look at your web site and wanted to let you know you did a beautiful job. Not many quarter horse people around here would even give a Fjord a second look. Anyway I live about 45 minutes east of Calgary, Alberta and presently have 9 Fjords that I love dearly. Just wondering if you might have a couple of these Fjord calendars still available. I did see the conversation about them earlier but I hesitated because of our crappy dollar. Changed my mind today and thought I'd buy myself a Christmas present. Please let me know if their is a chance and how much extra you would need for the shipping and postage. Keep up the great work you and your husband are doing with the Fjords. Hope to be at Nordicfest next year. Was to late to get accommodations this year. I should have them in the mail to you Friday. I ordered a few extras since there was so much interest in them so if anyone else wants one, please let me know. $20 will cover costs plus shipping. Re: Libby and Trinity Fjord Happenings
This message is from: LarryMargaret Shorhen [EMAIL PROTECTED] Dear Ursula I haven't had the opportunity to meet you and your husband yet but my husband and I raise Fjords near Calgary. I was wondering if you could help us in regards to the Libby show. We have been trying for years to make it down to watch but something always comes up. We are determine to go this year but we are having trouble finding out if there is any camp site still available. We don't need anything special as we just have a truck and camper. Could you let us know who tocontact or would anyone around that area let us park in their field. Any help would be greatly appreciated and hope to see you at the show. Thanks , Marg -Original Message- From: Ursula Jensen [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: fjordlist fjordhorse@angus.mystery.com Date: August 12, 2001 3:26 PM Subject: Libby and Trinity Fjord Happenings This message is from: Ursula Jensen [EMAIL PROTECTED] Dear Group from Brian Jensen; The Libby Show 2001 will have a great starter with the fours entering the arena at 1 P.M. on Sat. The midwest group has been running the four-up class for many years and Libby can finally follow suit. As the pictures have shown recently there looks to be at least three fours competing this year. Many thanks to Dennis Johnson and the show committee for including the class. Beth and Sandy of Starfire will be there as well as Jeff and Lisa Peterson.Trinity Fjords four will be there as well.I was hoping for Pat Malloy to start a four , but some bad luck with a helpers injury and a huge drought in their area has caused them to cancel their trip this year . We will certainly miss them. Our Driving Weekends have been completed successfully for the third year with about 20 successful entrants overall. If you are interested in 2002 talk to us at Libby about a weekend next year.We already have bookings and some spaces taken so let us know if you are interested. Hopefully there are now more enthused and safety aware drivers out there to use their Fjords in the wonderful sport of Driving. I may be looking for a groom for the four and unique hitch so if you are interested in the sport of driving and want to participate in the show let me know. I have one groom confirmed and another cancelled due to personal reasons. Most men do not want to dress in livery for the class so usually it is the ladies who give me a hand. See you at Libby for lots of Fjord fun and visiting Ursula Brian Jensen Trinity Fjords Box 1032 Lumby BC Canada V0E-2G0 http://okjunc.junction.net/~ujensen/ [EMAIL PROTECTED] (250) 547-6303
Re: Nova Scotia Beginner Driving Vacation in Horse Classic
This message is from: LarryMargaret Shorhen [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi from Hunbun's Fjords near Calgary, Alberta. I was just wondering if you knew the price of these calendars or does Virginia have an e-mail or fax number. Sounds like the Fjords are well represented. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Marg -Original Message- From: Arthur Rivoire [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: fjordhorse@angus.mystery.com fjordhorse@angus.mystery.com Date: July 13, 2001 5:26 AM Subject: Re: Nova Scotia Beginner Driving Vacation in Horse Classic This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Arthur Rivoire) Hi from Carol Rivoire at Beaver Dam Farm in Nova Scotia - This is a big-time Brag Alert - We're really thrilled this morning at Beaver Dam Farm because yesterday we received the first copies of the Horse Classic Equine Calendar for 2002, and our Nova Scotia Beginner Driving Vacation is featured as one of two recommended Equine Vacations. The other is in Costa Rica. The Fjords got tremendous coverage --- 11 photos if you can imagine, and a full page of text. Costa Rica only got a half page. Betsy Patryjak's mare, Mira, is featured. She was at Beaver Dam Farm on consignment when the Horse Classic crew was here. She's shown with one of our European Interns, Lida Talma from Holland. Lida, or The Lovely Lida, as she was known, is the namesake for Mira's filly, LIDAMIR. The photos they chose are really great. There's a lovely one of Gjest in harness, and others of him being driven by our beginner driver guests. There's also a wonderful photo of an 11 yr. old girl driving the cones course in a marathon vehicle with our mare, Holly (Solar). It's a great action photo with Holly bending round the curve and the young girl doing just what she was taught. -- This beautiful, full-color calendar is available at almost all tack shops throughout the U.S. and Canada, or you can order it from Horse Classics by writing to Virgina P. Re: lost horses
This message is from: LarryMargaret Shorhen [EMAIL PROTECTED] Denise, My wife had a similar experience years ago in the Tonquin valley of Jasper, Alberta, and the horses were hobbled. Everyone said that they would not go across streams nor go uphill. They did both, went across 2 streams and uphill to the tree line. Good luck. They are herd animals and will seek out their own kind, so looking for them on horse back may attract them towards yourself. Larry Marg Shorhen
Re: Itchy foals
This message is from: LarryMargaret Shorhen [EMAIL PROTECTED] Try dusting the horses with D.E.. We use it for all kinds of insect control,,it is non-toxic and as it falls to the ground/bedding it kills insects there as well. Hope this will help you a little bit. Larry Shorhen
