Lori Lemley, With reference to your message re: looking for a fjord gelding
we have on consignment sale 10 yr. old gelding Jorgeneson that rides real
well, he's a good solid chunky horse, not real flashy, prancey or nervous.
Stands about 14 hands, rich brown dun colouring. Too bad there is so much
distance involved. Will await your reply.
Sincerely, Larry Boe from Bo-Fjords

So as I mentioned in my previous message, I will be moving to Norway in 4
months or so, which means that my beloved Quinn will be for sale.

Quinn is a 6 (coming 7) year old gelding, registered name Bo-Fjord's
Cloudy.
About 14h1 or 14h2 tall. He has so far excelled at everything he has tried
and loves a challenge. He has successfully competed at Novice Level
eventing
and has dressage scores up to 70.5%.

At the Turlock evaluation in 2001 he received a Blue ribbon for
conformation
and movement. At Skandifest 2002 he was Novice Fjord Horse champion. He
has
excellent movement, very big and perfect for dressage. Large overstep at
walk, big bouncy trot and a wonderful, balanced canter. But the best thing
about him is his personality - very, very expressive and a total charmer.
For adults and advanced riders, he is a great performer, and for little
kids
and nervous riders he is a wonderful confidence builder, walking carefully
around with very small steps. Very gentle, loves people. However, he would
do best under the supervision of an experienced person. I feel that if he
is
only around beginners for a long time he will start to feel in charge.
(going for the grass when led in a halter, exciting the gate when the
beginner rider isn't paying attention, deciding that he'd rather walk
slowly
than trot - he would never do something dangerous).

Not trained to drive yet (we've been so busy with dressage and jumping)
but
we've done lots of ground driving and he could be ready to be hitched up
very quickly. I might start working on that now that the show season is
over. He thinks everything is a game and loves learning new things. Not
much
scares him, and I'm sure he'll make a fantastic driving horse.

I have considered bringing him to Norway, since I don't think I'll find
such
a good match for me ever again, but financially that is just a very bad
idea. Luckily I know it will be easy to find him a good home. I'm asking
 around $10K for him.

Pictures of Quinn can be found on my website www.dagrun.freeservers.com -
all over but especially under Quinn picture gallery. My two thoroughbred
mares Nora and Shannon will also be for sale.

 Hi All,

My name is Deborah Piercefield. I have recently become very interested in
Fjords. I have been in horses almost all my life. I have admired the
Fjord
for a long time, and don't know why it has taken me so long in pursuit of
one
 of these wonderful equines.

I am mostly just a pleasure rider, trails, parks, and would like to do
some
parades. I like to use English gear, but can go western every now and
then:o)
I do have a little interest in dressage, which probably stems from my
saddlebred years, the 1970's! Oops, yes I am older now and prefer a
calmer,
steadier horse! I do own a Friesian mare who is the dearest thing. I
ride
her, but I do breed her, so she is out on foal duty some. I have a
miniature
horse gelding who keeps her company.

I would love to find a Fjord, prefer well-trained to ride and drive, but
could
be green. Prefer a taller one, at least 14.2 hands. Feel free to e-mail
me
privately if you have something for sale. I'm not interested in breeding,
so
geldings would be great. Me and my husband plan on trail riding this
spring
 and summer!

I also want to say the Fjord people I have contacted have been the nicest,
 most helpful group of people!

 Regards,
 Deborah Piercefield

 Hello listers,

Just have to share my excitement! Quinn started to understand canter cues
yesterday (leg) for the first time! And differentiating between left and
right! He was so proud of himself! He is also yeilding to my leg, both
sides, bending nicely, shortening and extending and carrying himself
really.
And he jumps like a dream! Nothing high yet, but getting the techniques
down
 and NEVER stops, ever.

I'm so excited! This is the first time I'm
 a) Training my OWN horse
 b) Training a horse without bad habits and issues to be untrained
 c) Training a horse with naturally good movement and conformation - he
goes
on the bit and uses his back correctly all by himself. As long as I sit
balanced. And have nice steady light bit contact.

Who knows, maybe I am biased. But he really is exceptional!

My TB mare is doing good, too. Much better when riding now. She is out in
pasture 24/7 and is building muscle and loosening up her movements. The
other day I was free lungeing her and she did her nice slow canter, then
suddenly slipped (in a pile of poop) and fell. Nothing scary, she didn't
even worry herself, just got back up and kept going. But from that fall,
she
managed to get maybe 10 new scratches. Falling in the soft arena literally
took several patches of skin off! How can a horse be that thin-skinned??
No
wonder she looks beat up from pasture... Stick to fjords, people :-)

Dagrun in San Jose, looking forward to Turlock!

Very impressive... especially the trailering part. Does anyone out there
have any suggestions on how to de-sensitize a stallion to mares- so he
can
work and be social without thinking about breeding whenever he sees
another
horse? Our stallion is wonderful and gentle but has lived his whole
breeding
life (13 years) only seeing mares when he breeds them... Right now he is
 manageable but very strong...

We are also waiting for the rain to stop so we can cut some hay.
