Hello,

My Canadian Bred Norwegian Fjord, Regn ("Rain") is just 14hh and over
1200lbs.  They sure can get big fast!.and boy oh boy are they STRONG!

I also have a quick question . does anyone know how long a fjords
bridle path should be cut? I know with Morgans and Arabs they are to be
cut quite long (in length) but I dont think that is the case with
Fjords... or is it? (its not like they have a lot a neck to deal with!...
so cute, so cute)

Training Fjords

2002-08-04 Thread Sally Maitland
This message is from: "Sally Maitland" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Hello everyone, I have one quick question to ask...I having been taking
lots of time to look for the perfect Fjord, and I have come across one
that I really like. The only downside to him is that he is not broke to
drive. I would really like to have a driving horse. He is 6 years old,
and he was not started (riding) until he was 4 and a half, so he had lots
of time to develope. Are Fjords hard to break? I have heard lots of
stories about how stuborn they can be, and I was wondering if I should
just look for a different one that is already  broke to drive. This Fjord
is a great guy, but the lady had him sent away for training, and isn't
really "horsey" and didn't know how he was to break.  If anyone has had
experience with breaking fjords to drive, please let me know! Thanks -

Fjord Sizes

2002-07-28 Thread Sally Maitland
This message is from: "Sally Maitland" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Hello, I have been looking at Fjords for sale, and I have come across a
lot that are over 15 hh. To me, a Fjord is not that tall. The average
height of Fjords is only about 14 hand right? Is a Fjord over 15hh
normal? Is the breed starting to breed into larger ponies, or in this
case horses, or are there just the occasional "large" Fjords..?..?  I
really want to buy the right Fjord, and I want it to be pure and "Built
Fjord Tough". Having a larger Fjord can always be nice, but I don't know
if this is normal! If anyone can help me with this question, please do!Thanks!
