 Hi List and Hi Julie,
We are going to meet the Rescue Fjord at 4:00 PM.
I'll know more about him by then.
I don't know anything about the gelding yet.
I do know he's registered because he's got papers with him but the owner
 did
 not
know his registered name by heart.
I know he wants $800 for him which is
ridiculously low if he's in good health.
He says his son (8 years old) rode
 him just fine.
When I see him tonight, I'll have a better Idea of conformation
 (for so far as I
know anything about that), health, rideability and possible
 driving ability.
I'll try to take pictures. I'm also trying to get my vet to
 come with me.
I do hope that someone is willing to rescue this boy.
 There's a
horse auction in Lexington tomorrow and I hope that the guy will give
 me some
time to find someone for this gelding. Because most horses bought at
 that
auction are being shipped off to Mexico. I would hate to see that happen.
(For the fjordissues list: Fred, I apologize in advance, I hope you don't
 consider this a sale)

I have metamorphosed (if anyone cares) into the Cinderella Coach Company,
specializing in the transport of young girls. I have discovered an
exquisite niche in the carriage driving world, which is most particularly,
picking young girls up from school at the end of the day. The CCC is
looking for young ladies in need of special recognition. I've done it three
times now, two elementary and one middle school. This is the scene: I
arrive with my pair of white horses, manes carefully trimmed and standing
tall, at the end the day, and while the less deserving get on the school
bus, our young friend gets on the carriage, joining her mother and me, and
off we go. I can't think of anything I can do that has greater impact on
 someone's life! I'm hooked!

This week I gave a ride to a grandaughter of a friend, a four year old, and
thereby too young for school, and besides, school is out, so what am I going
to do? The grandmother went ahead in her truck, so it was just the two of
us. This was a smart and mature young woman, who could in fact spell her
name, who very clearly has a passion for horses. She has many versions at
home, but had never ridden in a carriage and never sat on a horse. Aha!
Cinderella Coach Company reporting for duty! As we went along she said how
she wanted a horse. I told her that mine were for sale, and she looked
interested. She said she would take one. I said no, she had to take both,
since they are a pair. She said,Okay, and asked me how much they cost. I
was a little surprised to be having this negotiation with a four year old,
but she was very clear. I said, Thousands! She said, I don't have
thousands. I said, Talk to your mother. When we got back to the
paddock, she had the chance to sit on Solven and ride a hundred feet,
 supported by her grandmother.

We were both having a right good time.

Have to brag on TWO Fjords Starting their Dressage Careers today. First and
hopefully the owner will fill in the details , I sold Clayridge Henry to
Karen Petty , this spring. Karen lives out on the West Coast and she KICKED
BUTT today doing Intro A B, with scores of 75% and 67%. You go girl. Karen
had a Fjord gelding that she did dressage with and unforunately he died of
Colic. She is VERY excited to have Henry and get started with his dressage
career. So...WAY TO GO KAREN YOU GUYS ROX!

Then in the Midwest, I took Sebastian to his first Dressage Show , and only
second show his whole life. I took him to BE in July but he wasn't really
ready to show yet, but now he is! We came home with Reserve Champion for the
Intro Division. With a high score of 65.5%, second only to a school master
TB , so I was THRILLED.

We also did Training level Test 1, and had a nice ride until the right lead
canter. We have had troubles with this but this week we nailed it ALL WEEK,
until today! Even in warm up , right on. Oh wellcan't be perfect all the
time. I was very pleased with his attitude, willingness and performance.

We have two more shows this Sept/Oct. We'll be doing Training level and
 will NAIL that lead!
