Hi Caitlin,
I suspect that the change to the new barn has caused the problem, and as
they become more comfortable there and get to know the place, they will be
better about separation. I would just give them time and maybe when you
leave one in the stall, give him some hay to keep his mind off the other,
and take the other out for some grass or some treats, etc. Fjords get
attached to their homes and do miss the old home when moved to a new one.
I'm sure they are feeling insecure, so tend to need each other more at this
time.

Jean in Fairbanks, Alaska, where it has cooled down from last weeks 80's,
but the big wildfires are still going. 20,000+ acres now burning in the
one out the road, about 40 miles from me. Lots of smoke. We need rain!

I have 2 fjord geldings that have been together most of their lives. I
recently moved them to a new barn. They both seem to be adjusting well,
except they have a fit when they are seperated. They have always been close,
but not inseperable. Say for example, last night I took them in and put Bert
in his stall and Frisk on the cross-ties. They were both good ,but I had
taken Frisk out to drive him and Bert went crazy. Frisk was even being jumpy
while being driven, he kept spinning to look for Bert. Any suggestions to
help them get over their fear of seperation?
tHANKS!
Caitlin
