Hi Ann

So great to read your obviously happy review of the Cinn evaluation. One of
the many reasons Jim and I regretted missing the evaluation was to meet you,
your husband and your horses. Hope to see you at a future one.

Tell us what and how your horses did!

Evaluation in Batavia (Cincinnati) Ohio

Hi all,

Just wanted to fill you in on the Ohio evaluation:

Neil and Ruth Sorum of Lebanon, OH organized/hosted a wonderful evaluation at
two beautiful locations in Ohio the last weekend in September. Conformation
was offered at their lovely farm on Friday, and also at Paxton Farm on
Saturday morning. All of the performance tests were conducted at Paxton,
where the stabling and arena facilities were superb.

The judges were Wayne Hipsley, Karen Cabic, and several learning judges. What
always strikes me about evaluations is how everyone there wants all the horses
to do their best -- there's no competition among the humans, everyone is
informative, supportive, congratulatory -- the judges spend so much time on
each individual horse, asking the handler to repeat the movement section if
they feel the horse isn't quite showing all the walk or trot he's capable of.
My favorite part of the conformation segment is when we get the judges'
feedback -- you can learn so much about Fjord (and general horse) conformation
when the judges provide their commentary with the horses right there as visual
aids. It's like a bonus clinic! And the score sheets are extremely helpful
-- they sure were good reading on the trip home.

We had lots of fun meeting some Midwest Fjord Club folks, and some of the
Registry folks too -- with so many family members showing, and so many
performance tests, I'm afraid we didn't get to visit as much as I would have
liked, so I'm resolving to attend more evaluations without horses in the near
future, so we can catch up on all those conversation fragments I left dangling
in Ohio! All of you were so helpful to us first-timers, thanks so much for
your many kindnesses over the whole weekend, especially Ruth and Sophie!
Aren't Fjord folks great?!!!

Now, how do we see all the results -- are they posted on the NFHR site
sometime in the future?
