Re: Gwendellin for sale again?
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello Joanne, > I just happen to notice this horse because of her being a white dun, > very well bred and I think people are confused a bit about FC Gwendellin. She was born in NY then sold to a woman in VA who kept her until she became pregnant with her second child. At that time, she was afraid she would not have the time for Gwennie and we purchased her as she is a fabulous mare and would do anyone proud either for performance or for breeding. She has been with us since. We did put her on the market in fall, however, did not actively advertise her as we were still debating on whether we really wanted to revamp our farm's program or not. However, due to us being involved so heavily in this other aspect of the horse industry, we have decided to reduce our breeding herd. Gwennie is our newest member and one of our youngest mares. We are very confident that because she is such a wonderful Fjord, she will find the perfect home that can utilize her strengths and really enjoy her. >From a business sense, the better option would be to keep her and sell one of our older mares who will soon be ready for retirement but we simply cannot do that. So, we decided she would be the best choice of mares for us to sell as she is special, unique, has awesome bloodlines, a fantastic temperament, is young, and would make a wonderful performance or broodmare. Our goal here at Bailey's IS to provide longterm homes for our Fjords, hence deciding to reduce our herd was a very difficult and long process. I can also tell you that we very carefully place our Fjords. A good quality home is a must. Re: Gwendellin for sale again?
This message is from: "Jean Gayle" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Joanna, good question re why horses are not kept in one place. My first horse. anglo Arab was a fancy equitation boy and his owner had need to progress further than he could go. I got him at 12 and he died here at 22. My first fjord Howdy was purchased at two or three by Karen Mc and trained and I bought him at six and he died here at 12 by reason of a stupid Vet. (My best friend is a Vet) Gunnar my second fjord has a history of various owners. The breeder sold him to a lady who had him for five or six years and did not use him. As I understand she gave him to a Therapy school where the owner did not like him and mistreated him. He was rescued by a young lady whose children adored him and spoiled him rotten. There was a divorce and I got him. Both of my warm bloods were foaled here. I am selling my warm blood 12 year old mare as I will be leaving the farm for a retirement home in the next few years. Better to find her a place at 12 than at 14-16. Gunnar will go to friends who have a fjord and have to adjust to another move. My big boy Charley will be pastured near where ever I am. He is 22, That is pretty much a gamut of reasons for horses being passed around. Jean Jean Walters Gayle Aberdeen, WA Author:The Colonel's Daughter $20 PO Box 104 Montesano, WA 98563
Re: Gwendellin for sale again?
This message is from: "Joanna Crell and David folger" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi , I am always interested in why certain horses are sold and sold again and again. I just happen to notice this horse because of her being a white dun, very well bred and I like her name. I'm sure there are lots of others that go around. ( for instance My neighbor just purchased the sweetest older fjord, one that I had seen 8or 9 years ago and at least two owners ago) I just thought that of all the discussion here , this would be be a valuable one. There are some big questions here, how does it affect the horse and is it just circumstance that they haven't landed in one "lasting" home? I know there could be many answers, I'd like to hear some on the list and if there are sensitive issues, I can respect anything said in a private reply too. Since we use our fjords for therapeutic riding and driving, we are always searching for information and experiences to help us more fully understand the horse mind. We find sharing stories with fellow fjord owners is very valuable, we also like to see people find the right horse. Gwendellin looks lovely, I hope she finds her place. I love our fjords, they are beyond value in the work they do. Today I know their direct value as I am going out in thee sub zero to put in another load of 600 hay bales, one can never have too much. At least we will be warmed up by all the throwing and stacking!
