Re: PMU Fjords/Mixes (I hope this works!)
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] When I checked the site Margaret recommended, I noticed the following statement about shipping. This might convince some people to consider these horses because ordinarily, the long-distance shipping costs would be a deal breaker for some. Seems like a generous offer to me. Transportation Fee: $N/A Adoption fee includes Coggins/Border Fees and shipping up to 2000 miles to a central drop site. This message is from: margaret maclellan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi List, I have never posted before as I am not lucky enough to have the resources to have a Fjord. Someday, hopefully, that will change! I have learned so much about them on this list that I am very happy to be on it! Thanks to you all! I just wanted to alert you all to some Fjords-some mixes-maybe some pure, that need homes-they are from Premarin farms-for those who are not familiar with this term it is a drug that helps women going through menopause. The drug is extracted from the urine of pregnant mares. This drug had been linked to a higher chance of cancer-so, now many women are no longer are using it.This is a Good news/Bad news kind of thing-good in that no more horses are being brought into these "farms"-but, bad news as the existing "farms" are getting rid of their animals-sometimes to auctions, sometimes as export to other countries-in other words-as FOOD!!! So, what can you do? Go to http://www.pmurescue.org/FAQ.php look up Fjords-a BUNCH of young babies and some adults.I believe many of these horses are from Alberta, in western Canada-maybe, if a few people on this list share expenses they could be transported to forever homes! The adoption prices are EXTREMELY LOW Perhaps you know someone that loves Fjords, but, can't afford the "Start up" price of one? This might be just the ticket for them! Please, take a look-these animals look healthy-(I know, you can't always tell from a picture!). MOST of them are halter broke-but, not all. These horses will need work. I believe different farms DO put different amounts of training into their horses. If anyone DOES look into this-Please post your experiences! ALSO, PLEASE do NOT delay in going to the site-the listings are often not on there long-I believe if you ARE interested in an animal you can email the farm where the animal is and let them know. This would be GREAT-as that would convince them that going through the PMU rescue group is a GOOD THING-and, more horses will be saved! Thanks for reading this post-feel free to cross post to any other list that may have interest! M.MacLellan - Tonight's top picks. What will you watch tonight? Preview the hottest shows on Yahoo! TV. Hope this works...
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Steve, I sure hope this works. I set my mail program to the default settings the web site you gave suggested. The only other option it gave for AOL 6 was to use the online mail site, which is a pain in the A** because half of the time we can barely get connected to AOL at all, let alone get a web site to come up. What else can we do? For the list: Early Warning!! Small Farmer's Journal IS having an auction again this year. It will be Memorial weekend (May 25, 26, 27, 2001). You can Email me to get on the mailing list. I have a list somewhat put together already, but not sure if I may have missed someone.
