Is anyone on this list a 4-H Leader? Specially with HORSE and PONY? If so,
PLEASE let me know. I have a few questions about what your state does or
does not do. Thanks! Catherine Lassesen
4-H Leader in one state for 5 years, now just getting started in Oregon and
finding the system VERY different.
Catherine,
I was a 4-H horse leader, Hippology coach, horse camp instructor, and state
horse advisory member for several years in Florida. I also did traveling with
the 4-H Exchange program and the Hippology team. I discovered that each state
can
be very different. Even the pamphlet Horse and Pony and other 4-H pamphlets
are often re-written by the state 4-H program office. Some states do use the
national version of these pamphlets, but most do not. Hopefully, your new
community has 4-H horse program that you will enjoy. After the initial, Why
don't you do it this way?, you may find their program is OK. I usually let
folks get to know me before I make too many suggestions. That's why I haven't
written to this list. I'm enjoying listing to the conversations. Let me know
if you have any specific concerns about your local 4-H Horse Program. I might
have some suggestions you can use.
