Canadian By-laws state the following: White markings are unacceptable in
stallions. Only a small star is permitted for mares and shall be noted on the
Certificate of Registration. A gelding may be registered with a small white
star on the face and small white markings on the legs, including on hooves,
and these white markings shall be noted on the Certificate of Registration.
Other white markings are not acceptable.

Thanks Carol Boehm for clarifying the CFHA policy. That makes more sense.

Dear Fjord Digest readers and Brian Jensen: I felt that there needed to be a
correction regarding Brian Jensens statement: . Under the Canadian Fjord Horse
Association guidelines it states the following. From the get go in Canada, the
CFHA states No White Markings
Canadian By-laws state the following:(4)) White markings are unacceptable in
stallions. Only a small star is permitted for mares and shall be noted on the
Certificate of Registration. A geldings may be registered with a small white
star on the face and small white markings on the legs, including on hooves,
and these white markings shall be noted on the Certificate of Registration.
Other white markings are not acceptable.

I have but one Fjord - a lovely mare by Prydarson out of Solveig. She has
a white star on her forehead. At her evaluation two years ago, the
evaluators spent a lot of time with her and said "We will not penalize this
lovely mare for a white star!" and awarded her her blue in conformation.
