Hi, all--

I feel like I already know many of you just from lurking on the list, but
have never introduced myself.

I live in Davidson, North Carolina and own a coming two year old out of
Grabb lines who I adore. Working with Clyde on the ground has cemented my
love
for this breed, but it is very difficult to resist the temptation to stay off
his back! So I have decided to search for an older gelding that I can enjoy
on the trails while Clyde has a chance to mature for a few years. I blame
Kate Seidel for giving me my first addictive hit of the Fjord drug.

For me, the most important element is temperament. I am looking for a
gelding that has an extremely gentle and friendly way and is very much in your
pocket. I have a lot of experience with therapy dogs and would love to have a
horse that could transition to hippotherapy at some point.

I need a horse that has enough experience under saddle that he can
immediately become my primary trail horse and be ridden western 2-3 times per
week. I
would consider myself a confident beginner. I understand that there will be
an adjustment period, but since I am already training the two year old, I
would like a horse that has a good amount of time under saddle. In terms of
build, I am 5'9", so I need a horse that is on the bigger, drafty end who is
not excessively forward. The final element (kicker) is that I have three
young sons aged 4, 7 and 10, who have a marginal interest in riding despite my
best attempts. I would need a horse who could safely carry them in the arena
if needed and eventually on the trails in time.

I know that in some ways this is a tall order, but I know the right horse is
out there somewhere. Any horse that we buy will have a safe and loving home
and always be treated with kindness.

Thank for your time. I have learned so much about this wonderful breed just
by scanning the archives while I am supposed to be cleaning the house.

Kris
