Here's something to try. Ask a carpenter if he burns any pressure treated 
wood in his fire place. Then, ask him why not. Then everyone will have reason 
to be scared.

Hi there,
As an ex carpenter I must tell you that P. T.  wood (pressure treated) 
is very toxic. However, horses seem to stick to the Horizontal cross boards 
rather than the posts themselves. So, I wouldn't worry about the posts being 
chewed. Just thought you should be aware. Jack
