Hi All-

I know this is a horse subject list - and I apologize if I am getting off
the subject - but I do not belong to any other chat room type of list and
knowing the variety of real life backgrounds all of you come from - I am
asking an off-horse request.

Some of you know of my daughter Robin - she's a great kid - she took our
Fjord gelding, Ivan and did some great training with him and showed him at
Blue Earth - and she was a great help to me organizing the entries for the
Blue Earth Show - well she's grown up now - and heading to college. She
is a Music major and hopes to teach. She actually plays seven instruments,
(all of which we bought her over the years- but are student quality) but
Oboe is what is getting her accepted into Murrary State University in
Kentucky.

As a family we fall into the cracks as far as help financially - do not
qualify for any FASA programs, but yet, although we have put aside money for
her secondary education - and she has applications for scholarships - we
need to buy her a concert quality Oboe. I've had leads on used ones and even
those are far out of our budget.

Sconsidering the broad base of Fjord owners.. I was just
wondering if any of you have a used concert quality Oboe that your not using
and might like to donate to very good cause, please contact me privately.
Maybe we can even make a trade on training or something. - although my barn
is full at the moment - with a wait list - I'll draw pictures of your horses
for the rest of their lives - or something!

Robin has a 4.0 GPA, a 28 on her ACT's.5th in her class ranking,.she is
President of her Sectional FFA - (the first girl and only the 2nd person to
do so in our school district). She was on the State FFA Band, a FFA state
delegate, She holds down two part time jobs, helps out on our dairy farm and
my horse business, she is on the Honor Society, she is taking AP classes,
she headed an Intergenerational Computer Class Program for 5 years at
school, a Friends Helping Friends Program for 4 years, she is on the speech
team, baseball team, has super study habits, and just a great kid.

We're not asking for charity - but sometimes you all do give to causes that
you never know where that money goes to - this time it is direct. I love
the fact she wants to eventually teach - giving back to the kids what she is
made up of - and hoping to make a difference to other kids with music
talents and interest. The domino effect is definitely in play here - an Oboe
is a serious instrument and expensive - one that has led her to this point
in her life.

Our son, Todd is in his 2nd year of college as welltwo in
school.and both my husband and I work full time - actually 7 days a week
with the dairy and the horse business.

If anyone can help- please contact. I am only asking now because we just
came back from Murray - from her audition and although she has been accepted
into the college and the music program it was made very clear to us that her
current instrument is wellnot accepted.

With a big thank you
Pat Holland

Pat, I have contacted my friend who was 1st Violinist for the Seattle
Symphony for fourteen years. She said it was like being the fastest gun in
the West. Finally quit and went to horses and country life. She says she
knows some oboists and will let me know. Jean Gayle
