By the "pit", I mean the small almond-shaped nut inside the hard shell that we usually call the peach pit. The shell does not contain cyanide, only the nut. If I remember right, it's also present in the pits of cherry and other "stone" fruits. Even if a human ate a few pits, it wouldn't be a serious problem, but, obviously, it's not a good idea to eat large amounts, whether horse or human. DeeAnna <- whose father, in the spirit of education, once gave her part of a peach pit to eat, then explained about the cyanide thing

This message is from: "Sue Harrison" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi everyone: For once I have had a wonderful 2 days with Storm. I am bound and determined to lead him with one hand in his halter. This morning I attempted it and got just opposite this rock that was about 14 inches high and sort of pointy. He bowed his neck and attempted to pull away precisely where the rock was and I hauled him on the rock! That got his attention and when he slid off he walked "on" the very best. I then circled him round the rock again and again. He worked good ...then stopped. I coaxed petted and gave him a treat. He walked on and was s good. (The way to this guys heart is apparently through his stomach). I have some news... We visited an Appaloosa stable about 15 miles away and were admiring the two new foals. Both fillies...one an appaloosa and one a paint. Deanna had purchased a couple of paint mares from Iowa this spring and one had this georgeous filly. Wellmy husband fell in love and bought her! She is now a chocolate brown colour instead of the red colour shown in the picture. Have any of you ever turned in a yearling Fjord gelding with a 5 month old filly? Storm is quite nippy with other horses and very rough. I don't think it would be a good idea. What do you all think? We did put my hubbys gelding in with Storm yesterday and they roughhoused and had a ball. I think the filly will run with my old mare. We won't be bringing her home for another month or so when she will be 5 months old. If you would like to see her she is the one called "Completely Aflame" and here is the web site... She is going to be tall. I am going to stick to my little Fjord man...hopefully "stick" litterly...LOL http://www.ltddstables.com/sale.htm(This link will not go when you click on it...can anyone tell me how to put in the website so it will link up?) This technical stuff has me baffled (: Tonight I was bedding down Storm, inspiration struck and I set the large plastic garbage bag of shavings right up on his back and wrapped the plastic right around him! He just stood there. I rattled it and shook it with no response! Was I ever impressed. It was nearly empty and very rattly. He is getting more docile everyday! Maybe he heard us say we were getting another colt and he is jealous. Anyway after him being so bad for awhile, I sure am impressed with his behaviour now. What a change! Well gotta go to bed...it is after midnight! Nite everyone, Sue in N.B. (Desert Storms mom)
